HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-19-2002 - Minutes - MUNICIPAL SERVICES COMMITTEE MEETING February 19, 2002 PRESENT: Councilmembers Singer, Wagner and Brothers; City of Auburn Staff: Jim Kelly, Police; Paul Adams, Police Guild; Bob Johnson, Fire; Shelley Coleman and Julie Salzman, Finance; Paul Krauss, Planning; Christine Engler, Sharon Conroy and Jennifer Gregg, Public Works; Ingrid Gaub and Jack Locke, Public Works; John Voday and David Ward, Northwest Hangers. Minutes of the meeting were tape recorded and are available for review for six (6) years from the date of the meeting. Please submit items for the agenda no later than 5p.m. the Wednesday prior to a meeting so packets can be assembled and distributed Thursday afternoon. Call to Order Sue Singer, Chairperson, called the meeting to order at 5:00 PM. Approval of Minutes The minutes of the previous meetings were approved as written. Consent and Agenda Resolution 3422 - Agreement with S. M. Stemper for Roofing Project at Airport: Moved to pass, seconded, and approved adoption of resolution. Contract 02-03 - Firing Range Fencing: Moved to pass, seconded, and approved awarding contract. Surplus Police Department Property: Moved to pass, seconded, and approved surplus of property. Resolution 3420 - NW Hangars: Moved to pass, seconded, and approved adoption of resolution. Resolution 3421 -lntegrus Architects, Parking Garage: Staff recommends amount of contract not to exceed $29,500. Wagner commented he is encouraged to see staff is working on having the city out of the ownership status. Action Plan handout submitted by Locke. Moved to pass, seconded, and approved adoption of resolution. Municipal Services Meeting February 19, 2002 Page I Information/Discussion Muckleshoot 2002 Compact: Paul Krauss brought the committee up to date on the compact. There was a discussion about who had input into the document A complete information packet was provided. Recycling Status Report: Jennifer Gregg provided a handout detailing current status. NW Buy Back Center is open at 2"a NW in Auburn. Between 850-900 calls have been received reference recycling. Garbage Billing for Commercial Accounts - Rollout Charges: There are 400 commercial and/or residential accounts. Salzman stated that position of container for pickup by hauler is crucial. Letter being sent to accounts explaining how to avoid a charge. Temporary parking restrictions: Restrictions were discussed. Repair Options for the City Hall CoUrtyard: Singer reported that the Art Commission may have funds to contribute to this project if art is included. Report from Steve Wilcox with options and costs will be presented at future meeting. Inmate Work Crew Ordinance: Ordinance was introduced. Airport'Advisory Board Powers: Krauss stated they are a public board and do make recommendations to council. Board must meet all public meeting requirements. This was a follow-up to discussion from last meeting. Adjournment Chairperson Sue Singer adjourned the meeting at 6:20 p.m. Next regular meeting is Monday, March 4, 2002, at 5:00 PM in Meeting Room 3. Submitted by, Sara J.
