HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-04-2002 - Minutes - MUNICIPAL SERVICES COMMITTEE MEETING March 4, 2002 PRESENT: Councilmembers Singer, Wagner and Brothers; City of Auburn Staff: Jim Kelly, Police; Paul Adams, Police Guild; Bob Johnson, Fire; Shelley Coleman, Finance; Christine Engler and Ingrid Gaub, Public Works; Jamelle Garcia, Auburn Flight. Minutes of the meeting were tape recorded and are available for review for six (6) years from the date of the meeting. Please submit items for the agenda no later than 5 p.m. the Wednesday prior to a meeting so packets can be assembled and distributed Thursday afternoon. Call to Order Sue Singer, Chairperson, called the meeting to order at 5:00 PM. Approval of Minutes The minutes of the previous meetings were approved as corrected. Correction: Under Repair Options for the City Hall Courtyard - "The city would be eligible for grant funds if art is included." Consent and Agenda Ordinance 5642 - Inmate Work Crew Program: This item will be brought up at a later meeting. The Municipal Judge and City Attorney are still working on several issues in this ordinance. Several preliminary questions were posed, primarily questioning the city's liability in this program and how the program would save money. Jim Kelly responded to the questions raised, and there will be further discussion when the ordinance comes before the committee at a later date. Surplus Property - Fire Department: After questions were satisfactorily answered as to why these items could not be utilized within the city, the committee moved to pass, seconded, and approved the surplus of these two vehicles. Change Order #1,C1019 - Range Fencing: Ingrid Gaub brought this item to the meeting as an agenda modification, as work on the project is scheduled to begin March 5th. The order includes installation of barbwire. Additional funding required still keeps the project within budget. Moved to pass, seconded, and approved. Municipal Services Meeting March 4, 2002 Page 1 Information/Discussion Proclamation for Disaster Preparedness Month in Auburn April 2002: This item was prematurely put on the agenda and will be covered at the next meeting. Resolution 3428 - Surcharge for Auburn Flight Service: Jamelle Garcia handed out a letter to those present at the meeting and answered questions. Committee members asked that this resolution be brought up when staff is present to discuss financing aspects of the resolution. Adjournment Chairperson Sue Singer adjourned the meeting at 5:30 p.m. Next regular meeting is Monday, March 18, 2002, at 5:00 PM in Meeting Room 3. Submitted by, Sara J.
