M I N U T E S
The regular meeting of the Auburn Planning Commission was held on Wednesday,
February 5, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of Auburn City Hall.
Those in attendance were as follows:
MEMBERS PRESENT: Chair Judi Roland, Vice Chair Kevin Chapman, Peter Di Turi,
Dave Peace, Joan Mason, Ron Copple and Bob Baggett
MEMBERS ABSENT: Michael Hamilton
STAFF PRESENT: Policy, Codes, Environmental Programs Manager Steve Pilcher
AUDIENCE PRESENT: Faith Ritchie, Valley Cities Counseling
REGULAR MEETING
CALL TO ORDER
Chair Judi Roland called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
January 8, 2008
Discussion: Ron Copple noted his named was mis-spelled in two places. Chair Roland noted the vote
to approve the minutes of the December 11 meeting passed 4-0, not 7-0.
Commissioner Baggett moved to approve the minutes from January 8, 2008 meeting as submitted;
seconded by Commissioner Copple.
The motion passed unanimously 7-0.
PUBLIC COMMENT
There were no public comments.

PLANNING DEPARTMENT REPORT
Policy, Codes, Environmental Programs Manager Steve Pilcher noted the Council had increased the
membership of the Commission to a total of eight in recognition of the increased size of the city after
the annexations. Michael Hamilton is the new member, being appointed at the previous evening's
Council meeting.
Mr. Pilcher reported light attendance at the two public open houses held in the two proposed
annexation areas.
Mr. Pilcher reported there was no new information regarding the Cavanaugh's project.

OTHER BUSINESS
Supportive Housing work session
Mr. Pilcher introduced the supportive housing topic and the need for the potential code amendment.
The concept of supportive housing was discussed in addition to how the code amendments would
address the need. The Commission invited Faith Ritchie with Valley Cities Counseling to provide
information on the concept of supportive housing and specifically, the project they intend to build.
The Commission asked staff to provide the following information prior to the next meeting:
• A map depicting social service providers within the city and their distance to R4 zones;
examine possibly expanding areas eligible for supportive housing.
• Clarification of the intent of a"resident manager".
• Examine the possibility of allowing this model to include families in addition to single adults.
• Provide examples of these types of facilities from other communities.
• Provide a list of any similar type facilities already within the city limits.
The Commission agreed to have a 6:30 p.m. study session at the March 4, 2008 meeting, followed
by a public hearing on the potential code amendment for supportive housing.

There being no further business, the Planning Commission adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
