The meeting was called to order at 5:32 p.m. Those in ;iiiei~c~i, Vcre Mayor Booth, Committee
Chairman Rich Wagner, Council/Committee member Pat Burns, Council/Committee member Don
Kurle, and Councilmember Virginia Haugcn. Staff in attendance were Public Works Director Frank
A. Curfie, Assistant Public Works Director Alice I. Conrad, City Engineer Dennis Dowdy, Acting
Utilities Engineer Tim Carlaw. Guest in attendaztec was John Raedcr for the Chamber of Commerce.
ISSUES
A. ORDINANCE NO. 4657, AMENDING CITY OF AUBURN SEWER RATES TO
INCORPORATE A METRO CHARGE INCREASE EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 1994
The Ordinance was described and introduced by City Engineer Dennis Dowdy who
noted that a correction should be made on page 1 to change the rate for single-family
residenee located outside of the City limits from $20.60 to $22.88. After a general
discussion of availability rates Councilmember Burns made a moron to recommend that
the City Council adopt the Ordinanec. The motion was seconded by Councilmember
Kurle and Chairman Wagoner concurred.
CONSENT
A. STREET DELAY AGREEMENT FOR 8TH STREET S.E. AND 'B' STREET S.E. -
JAMES COX AND JEFFERY B. WOODWARD
An introduction and explanation of the street delay case was made by City Engineer
Dennis Dowdy. Councilmember Bums asked for an explanation of the criteria used
and examined by staff relative to dela;/approval recommendations. City Engineer
Dennis Dowdy described the staff review process and Councilmember Bums made a
motion to consent. The motion was seconded by Councilmember Kurle. Chairman
Wagner concurred. The Committee asked that staff be prepared to explain the street
delay process and decision criteria at a future Committee meeting discussion.
B. PUBLIC WORKS COMMITlEE MEETING DAYS/TIMES
Chairman Wagner asked the Committee members to consider convenient dates and
times for future Public Works Committee meetings. He evaluated the pros and cons of
the already established Monday nights at 5:30 p.m. , and Councilmember Burns
expressed his feelings that the current meetin6 routine often feels rushed when it
appears on the Council agcnda on the same mght. The Committee agreed to move the
regularly scheduled Public Works Committee to every 2nd and 4th Monday of each
month at 5:30 p.m. The next Public Works Committee meeting will be held on
January 31~ 1994.

A. 'F' BASIN COMPREHENSIVE STORM DRAINAGE
Introduction and presentation by Acting Utilities Engineer Tim Carlaw. General
discussion.
ADJOURN
There being no further business to come before the Council, the meeting was adjourned at 6:45 p.m.
