HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-22-1994PUBHC WORKS COMMITTEE MINUTES AUGUST 22, 1994 CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. Those in attendance were Mayor Booth, Committee Chairman Rich Wagner, and Council/Committee member Pat Burns. Council/Committee member Don Ku~e was excused from the meeting. Staff in attendance were Public Works Director Frank A. Curfie, City Engineer Dennis Dowdy, Project Engineer Jack Locke, Utilities Engineer Dwight Holobaugh, Airport Manager John Anderson, and Planning Director Paul Krauss. Guests in attendance were Jill Kurfirst of J.K. Consulting Mark Hancock of Hapsmith Corporation, John Kaiser of Valley Daily News, and John Raeder of the Chamber of Commerce. ISSUES A. ORDINANCE NO. 4691, AMENDING AUBURN CITY CODE SECTION 12.56.460 Airport Dir~ztor John Anderson presented Ordinance No. 4691 amending section 12.56.460, allowing experimental aircraf[ to access the Auburn Airport. It was not~ the City has a legal responsibility to provide service according to FAA regulations. The experim~tal aircraf~ is to provide insurance during the FAA test period. Being ~atis~ed with the answer, the decision was made to recommend approval to the Council at their August 22, 1994 meeting. CONSENT A. PERMISSION TO ADVERTISE FOR PR 541, CONTRACT 94-12, UTILITY IMPROVEMENTS City Engineer Dennis Dowdy requested permission to advertise for bids for PR 541. An explanation of budget impact was requested by Council members. Being satisfied with the response, the decision was made to recommend approval at their August 22, 1994 meeting. B. AWARD BID FOR PR 522, DOWNTOWN PEDESTRIAN PLAZA, TO THE LOWEST RESPONSIBLE BIDDER City Engineer Dennis Dowdy received the award for bid and explained the funding breakdowns, City responsibility vs Federal responsibility of funding expenditures. Being satisfied with the response, the decision was made to recommend approval to the Council at their August 22, 1994 meeting. C. UTILITY BILL ADJUSTMENT FOR ACCOUNT #-4.34.2674 IN THE AMOUNT OF TWO HUNDRED EIGHTY-THREE DOLLARS AND EIGHTY-SIX CENTS ($283.86) The Committ~ recommended approval to the Council at their August 22, 1994 meeling. PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE MINUTES AUGUST. 22, 1994 Page 2 INFORMATION OR DISCUSSION A. SUPERMALL ISSUES A general discussion was held regarding Supermall policy issues. The general consensus of the group was to hold the Public Works meeting on September 8, 1994. Hapsmith, Inc. will conduct a presentation to Council regarding length of term of the 'C' Street Ramp Traffic Mitigation and the flyover ramp dedication.
