I. CALL TO ORDER CiTY OF AUBURN

The meeting was called to order at 5:35 p.m. Tk;ose ~n attendance were Mayor Booth,
Committee Chairman Rich Wagner, Council/Committee member Trish Borden and
Council/Committee member Fred Poe. StaFf in attendance were Public Works Director
Frank A. Currie, City Engineer Dennis Dowdy, Senior Engineer Dennis Selle, Utility
Planning Engineer Nass Diallo, Don Wright staFf member, and Public Works Secretary
Laurie Scheder.
Guest in attendance was John Raeder from the Chamber of Commerce.
II. ISSUES
A. ORDINANCE NO. 4898, AMENDS CITY CODE CHAPTER 10.36
STOPPING, STANDING AND PARKING, BY CREATING 36.36.335, NO
PARKING BETWEEN 8:00 PM TO 5:00 AM
City Engineer Dennis Dowdy presented Ordinance No. 4898, amending City Code
Chapter 10.36 dealing with parking and 4th Street SE offof"T" Street SE, and a
portion of "V" Place SE. A general discussion followed.
The Committee decided not to action the Ordinance, rather to refer the matter to
the Police Chief to post Prohibited Parking signs in the cul-de-sac east of the "V"
Street SE intersection only. That the matter will be further reviewed after the
Fenster property is available for establishing a new public access.
B. ORDINANCE NO. 4899, ALLOWS THE DETERMINATION TO DELAY
IMPROVEMENTS IN THE CASE OF INDIVIDUAL SINGLE-FAMII .Y LOTS
TO BE MADE ADMINISTRATIVELY
City Engineer Dennis Dowdy briefed the Public Works Committee on Ordinance
No. 4899, dealing with Delay Improvements.
The Committee recommended approval to Ordinance No. 4899 with modifications
to be made on page five, item 12.64.060, prior to the City Council meeting of
September 16, 1996.
llI. CONSENT
A. APPROVE FINAL PAY ESTIMATE #5, CONTRACT 96-04, MS 713, TO
DENNIS R. CRAIG CONSTRUCTION FOR EMERALD DOWNS SR
167/15TH STREET NE IZMPROVEMENTS

IV. INFORMATION OR DISCUSSION
· A. "I" STREET PARKING STATUS
City Engineer Dennis Dowdy and Public Works Director Frank A. Currie briefed
Committee members on the status of student parking. It appears that parking is
not an issue in residential areas surrounding the High School. The Committee will
be kept updated.
B. AQUIFER TEST REPORT
Utility Planning Engineer Nass Diallo updated the Public Works Committee on the
recent Aquifer Testing Program. The data will be analyzed and further reports will
be presented to the Public Works Committee.
C. MIT SEWER AGREEMENT
The City Engineer briefed the Committee members on the MIT Sewer Agreement.
Response has been received form the Tribe, but has not been reviewed and
analyzed by staff Once staff has reviewed the Agreement, the Committee will be
briefed on concerns.
D. HOME PLATE RIGHT-OF-WAY USE PERMIT FOR GOOD OL' DAYS 1997
The City Engineer suggested to the Committee the issuance of a blanket permit for
Street Use during Auburn Good O!' Days. The Auburn Good O1' Days
Committee would then take the lead on the assignment of Street Use. City
Engineer Dennis Dowdy is to draR a letter to the Auburn Good Ol' Days
Committee and to affected Tavern owners.
V. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Public Works Committee, the meeting was
adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
