Home My WebLink About03-07-2006I. Call to Order The meeting was called to order. Those members present were Trish Borden, Lonnie Sundal, Len Elliott, and Marion Nancarrow. Todd Meyers and Garna Jones were absent. The members were advised that Mr. Meyers had e-mailed to tell us that he was resigning because of his increased business commitments. Also present at this meeting were Parks Planning and Development Manager Dan Scamporlina, Horticulturalist Kirk Hadley, and Secretary Ann Fuqua. II. Minutes of the February meeting were accepted as sent. III. Correspondence/Public Input IV. Old Business A. Review Code Change to Tree Board Mr. Scamporlina advised that Council had changed the number of members on our Board to make it consistent with other City Boards. With the resignation of Mr. Meyers, this means that we have three openings. If anyone knows of interested citizens, they can apply through the Mayor's office. V. New Business A. Review 2006 Work Plan The members of the Board discussed changes they would like to see to the 2006 Work Plan. Staff will arrange to make the changes requested. There was discussion about events at which the Board would have a presence, i.e. KidsDay, 4th of July, Good X01 Days. Next month we will discuss which members will participate at these events, so bring your calendars. We will also make our recommendations for significant tree recognition. Board members were requested to bring their selections and any pictures they may have. The definition of a significant tree was discussed: NOTE: From the minutes of our April, 2005, meeting, the definition agreed upon is "a tree or group of trees designated as such by the city because of its exceptional value to the residents of the city. Value is determined by factors such as association with historic figures, events or properties, rare or unusual species, or exceptional aesthetic quality". B. Utility Bill Stuffer Mr. Scamporlina showed the Board the utility stuffer he had drafted and it was reviewed by the members.
