The meeting was called to order by Mayor Shaughnessy. Counci Imen present: Gaines. Lea, Kammeyer, Fitzsimmons, Sonnemann, Knechtel, and Counci Iman Absent: Aaby. CORRESPONDENCE LEONARD CONSTRUCTION COMPANY A letter from Oscar L. Leonard expressed his thanks end satisfaction for the work that the entire city hal I staff is doing. WASH I NGTON STATE HIGHWAY COM\~J SS ION A letter from the Washington State Highway Commission informed the Counci I that under the provisions of Chapter 3, Extraordinary Session Laws of 1963, that portion of "R" Street S.E. and Main Street from the East Corporate Limi ts north~rly and westerly to a junction with PSH No.5 in the City of Auburn, wil I become city streets, effective the 6th day of July, 1963. This letter was referred to the Street Committee. PETITION TO REZONE IRA & HELEN GREGG A petition from Ira. F. Gregg and Helen Gregg reauested the rezoning of the South half (2) of Lot Five (5), all of Lot Fourteen (14), and the east seventy- five (75) feet of Lot Thirteen (13), all in Block "B" French's First Add! tion to the Town of Slaughter (now Auburn), according to plat recorded in volume 5 of Plats, page 53, records of King County Auditor, all situate in King County, Washington, from R-2 to R-4. This petition was signed by nineteen owners of property lying within a 200 foot radius of the property to be rezoned giving their consent to the proposed rezoning. This petition along with the Covenant to the City of Auburn, Washington, presented at the lest meeting was referred to the Planning Commission. PEl I I ION 10 REZONE George & Alma Nigherbon A petition from George Nigherbon and Alma Nigherbon reouested the rezoning of property located at 812 10th Street Northeast from R-2 to R-4. The petition was signed by fifteen owners of property lying within a 200 foot radius of the property to be rezoned, stating they have no objections to the proposed zoning. This petition was referred to the Planning Commission. PETITION TO VACATE PORTION OF "C" STREET S.E. A petition fromWilliemRichardson, Doris Richardson, and Rev. John J. Duffy reouested the vecation of thet portion of "Cn Street S.E., more particularly des- cribed as follows: Beginning at the N. E. corner of Lot 15, in Block 4 of Terminal Park Addition to the City of Auburn, Washington; thence south along the east line of said Lot 15, a distance of 107.24 feet to the southeest corner of said Lot 15, thence N 89 degrees 33'10" east, a distance of 30. feet; thence north o degrees 54'58" east, a distance of 107.26 feet; thence south 89 degrees 33'10" west, a distance of 30. feet more or less to the point of beginning. It was moved by Lea and seconded by Kammeyer that the City Attorney be instructed to drew up the proper papers to call for a public hearing on the vacation of this street. MOT I ON CARR I ED 70 AUBURN, WASHINGTON MONDAY JULY I, 1963 PETITION FOR L. I. D. ON 2nd STREET S.E. M o ~ c:: (] A petition signed by five owners of property abutting 2nd Street S. E. from "N" Street S.E. to Pike Street S.E. requested the Councl I create a Locel Improvement District for the purpose of constructing curb & gutter and street surfacing on this street. 61.9% of property was Included on the petition to create an L.I .D. It was moved by Lea and seconded by Kammeyer that the City Attorney be instructed to draw up the necessary Ordinance for the construction of this Local Improvement District. MOT I ON CARR I ED MONTHLY REPORT OF MUNICIPAL COURT The monthly report for June, 1963 of the Municipal Court was presented to I the Council by George Fiori, Jr., Judge, Auburn Municipal Court, showing the total to City Treasurer $3,947.75. QUARTERLY REPORT OF MUNICIPAL COURT The quarterly report of the Municipal Court was received by the Council for the period of April I, 1963 to June 30, 1963. The total turned into the Treasur.er for the three month period was $12,275.50. PROGRESS ESTIMATE NO. 2 ADDITIONS & IMPROVEMENTS TO AUBURN C ITY JA Il Progress estimate No.2 for additions & improvements to Auburn City Jail was submitted to the Council for approval by Archie J. Fry, Architect. The progress report showed balance due C. E. Skinner, Inc., Contractor, as $9,126.80. It was moved by Sonnemann and seconded by Kammeyer that Progress Estimate No.2 be approved, and C. E. Skinner, Inc., Contractor, be paid $9,126.80 as specified. MOTION CARRIED VALUATION OF THE FIREMEN'S PENSION FUND I The valuation of the Firemen's Pension Fund was received from Milllmen & Robertson, Inc., Consulting Actuaries, and is on fi Ie in the City Clerk's Office. PRELIMINARY ASSESSMENT ROLE "M" STREET N. E. AND HARVEY ROAD The preliminary assessment role, estimated cost, and fair value of the land and improvements for the proposed U,cal Improvement District on "M" St"reet N. E. and Harvey Road between 4th and lOth Street N. E. was submitted to the Counci I by George A. Schuler, Plenning Director. This preliminary assessment role is on file in the City Clerk's Office. I I I 71 AUBURN, WASHINGTON MONDAY JUL Y I, 1963 AUDIENCE None COMMITTEE REPORTS PURCHASING COMMITTEE Counci Iman Sonnemann reported that the Purchasing Committee was in favor of awarding the bid for the demolition of the Hauge Bui Iding to Glen Rockey Construction Company. It was moved by Sonnemenn end seconded by Lea that Glen Rockey Construction Company be awarded the bid for the demolition of the Hauge Bui Iding at the bid price of $3,000.00. The following roll cal I vote was recorded: Lea, yes; Kammeyer? yes; Fitzsimmons, yes; Sonnemenn, yes; Knechtel, yes; and Gaines, yes. MOTION CARRIED It was moved by Gaines and seconded by $onnemann that the bid bonds be returned to the unsuccessful bidders after the contract is signed with Glen Rockey Construction Company. It was moved by Kammeyer and seconded by Geines that the Counci I accept the offer of Manson's Rexall Drug Siore, and Forslund Prescription Pharmacy to collect water bi lis for the City of Auburn, efter proper bond has been posted.
