D. 6154 It was moved by Kammeyer and seconded by Aaby that Glenn Rockey Construction Company be awarded the contract on L. I. D. #154 for $8,214.70, and City Clerk be authorized to sign the contract. The following roll call vote was recorded: Aaby, yes; Lea,yes; Kammeyer, yes; Fitzsimmons, yes; Sonnemann, yes; Hough, yes; and Gaines, yes. I MOTION CARR I ED CAll FOR BIDS ON 1/2 TON TRUCK & 3/4 TON TRUCK FOR THE WATER DEPARTMENT It was moved by Kammeyer and seconded by lea that the City Clerk be instructed to call for bids on a 1/2 ton truck and a 3/4 ton truck for theWater Department bids to be opened at 4 p. m. FRY, ARCHITECT It was moved by Sonnemann and seconded by Kammeyer that Archie J. Fry, Architect, be paid $600.00 the amount due him for Architectural Services rendered on additions to the City Jail. MOTION CARR I ED Councilman Sonnemann stated that Police Chief Hugh Darby requested permission for himself and Captain Tom McDermott to attend a Police Meeting in Port Angeles on the 5th & 6th of December. It was moved by Sonnemann and seconded by Aaby that the Council grant Chief Darby, and Captain McDermott permission to attend a Police meeting in Port Angeles on the 5th & 6th of December. It was suggested the word minimum be inserted in Article IV, Section 7, Item B, paragraph 2 which will change paragraph G to read, "Pump islands must be located a minimum of fifteen feet from any street property line." It was moved by Kammeyer and seconded by Sonnemann that the City Attorney be instructed to draw up the necessary Ordinance on amendments to the zoning code, with addition of the word minimum to be inserted in Article IV, Section 7, Item B, paragraph 2 as suggested. MOT I ON CARR I ED OLD BUSINESS Councilman Gaines said we should have an Ordinance outlining the duties of the Ci ty Attorney. Robert Smythe, City Attorney, stated the Ordinance should be changed to conform to the budgeted Ii gure lor the Ci ty Attorney. I Mayor Shaughnessy appointed a committee consisting of Bob Gaines, George Aaby, and Ray Sonnemann to work with the City Attorney in settling up a new Ordinance governing the duties of the City Attorney. NEW BUSINESS DRAWING OF COUNCIL POSITIONS Council positions for_the city election were drawn and assigned as follows: ·FOUR YEAR TERMS POSITION NO. I that now held by Robert Gaines 2 that now h~ld by Ray Sonnemann 3 that now held~y Richard Kammeyer POSITION NO.4 will be the unexpired term for two years now held by Charles Hough. AUBURN, WASHINGTON MONDAY DECEMBER 2J , 19Í51 AUO I ENCE REPAIR OF STREETS & SIDEWALKS Floyd Calkins, asked what is being done in the City of Auburn in regard to the repair of sidewalks. He stated that sidewalks needing repair were marked about a year ago, but nothing further has been done. Mayor Shaughnessy said he had been unable to find a party to do sidewalk repair at a reasonable price, but that the project had not been dropped. I Bloyd Calkins stated that the street in front of Bothell Chevrolet was in need of repair at the present time. He stated that the gas company had cut into the street to put in a line, and repairs they had made to the street had not held up. This matter was referred to the Street Superintendent. CLAIMS It was moved by Gaines and seconded by Sonnemann that the following claims against the City, all having previously been passed and signed by the Purchasing Committee, be approved and the City Clerk be authorized to draw warrants in payment. MOTION CARRIED There being no further business to come before the Council the meeting was adjourned at 9:45 p. m. subject to the call of the Mayor.
