awarded the bid for construction of Perimeter Fence, Les Gave Park, for $6,042.00 plus
4% sales tax, and the mayor and city clerk be instructed to sign contract.

A letter of resignation as counci Iman was reeeived from Charles Hough.
It was moved by Kline and seconded by Calkins that the resiqnation as counci Iman
from Charles Houah be accepted.

A petition from the Auburn Cemetery Board requested reVISion of plat of the
Auburn Cemetery in manner set forth on plans submitted with petition.
It was moved by Fitzsimmons and seconded by Calkins to instruct the city clerk
to cal I for a public hearing on the request to be held November 2, 1964, for the
revision of this plat.

A letter from Harold A. Hagestad, City Engineer, certified that he had checked
the figures for the bid received from Rainier Asphalt Pavinq for work under L.t .0. #155
and found them to be in order, and reeommended this bid be aecepted.
It was moved by Sonnernann and seconded by Lea to award the bid for surfacing five
parking lots under L.r.D. ffl55 to Rainier Asphalt for $37,804.35, and the mayor and
city clerk be instructed to sign this contract.

Counc i Iman Lea reported that a meet i ng had been he I d on the "M" Street Southeast
problem and it had been decided that 145 feet of sidewalk, whieh is above a 4" level
of the curb would be replaced by the city.

Counci Iman Fitzsimmons stated that the Water-Sewer Committee was making
application for a loan to the H.H.F.A. for a survey and planning study for City of
Auburn sewer system.

George Schuler, Planning Director, reported on the planninq session he attended
in Spokane on September 17th, 18th and 19th.
Jerry Keesee, Disposal Plant Operator, reported on the engineering study being
I made by Carey and I<ramer to determine corrections required 1'0 insure proper operation
of the p I ant.

Harold Hagestad, City Engineer, reported on the proqress of the downtown
parkinq L. I. D. He also reported on the request made to the King County Health
Department for the City of Auburn to utilize property back of the old post office.
NEW BUSINESS
It was moved by Fitzsimmons and seconded by Calkins to instruct the city clerk
to cal I for a public hearinq on Resolution adoptinq and ratifyinq an aqreement with
Housinq Authority of Kinq County, to be held October 5, 1964 at 8 p. m.

Robert Smythe, City Attorney, reported that the agreement with School District
#408 for water service at the Junior Col lege site had been redrafted.

Mayor Gaines referred this matter to the Water-Sewer Committee and Engineering
Department for study.

It waS moved by Fitzsimmons and seconded by Sonnemann, that the claims as
approved by the Audit Committee be paid.

Mayor Gaines announeed that copies of the t^ayor's Preliminary Budaet for
the year 1965 are avai lable, and a pub I ic hearing on it wi II be held October 5, 1964
at 8 p. m. in the Counci I Chambers at the City Hal I.
There being no further business, the meeting was declared adjourned at 9:55 p. m.,
subject to the cal I of the Mayor.
