Councilmen present: Hoyt, Lea, Kline, Fitzsimmons, Calkins, Aaby, and
Sonnemann.
Minutes of the previous meeting held February I. 1965 were approved as mai led.
PUBLIC HEAR I NG
I
The Mayor declared the public hearing open on the request of Myron Massey
to rezone from A-I (Agricultural) to C-I (Light Commercial) property located across
from the Town and Country Restaurant.
The Planning Commission recommended this request be granted subject to certain
provisions.
It was moved by Calkins and seconded by Fitzsimmons that the public hearing be
closed.
MOTION CARRIED
It was moved by Sonnemann and seconded by Lea that the city attorney be
instructed to draw up the necessary Ordinance to rezone from A-I to C-I property
located across from the Town and Country Restaurant subject to certain provisions
set up by the Planning Commission.

The Auburn Cemetery Board recommended the bid for a tractor and backhoe be
awarded to Evergreen Equipment Company for $5314.21.
It was moved by Sonnemann and seconded by Hoyt that the bid for a tractor
and back-hoe be awarded to Evergreen Equipment Company for $5314.21.

CORRESPONDENCE
The report and recommendation of the Auburn Planning Commission was read.
The Auburn Planning Commission recommended that the request of Loren Payne
to rezone from R-2 to R-3 (Residontial, single fami Iy to residential, duplex)
property located at 12th and Harvey Road be granted.

It was moved by Kline and seconded by Aaby that the City Clerk be instructed
to cal I for a public hearing to be held at 8 p. m., March', 1965, on the request
of Loren Payne to rezone from R-2 to P-3 property located at 12th and Harvey Road.

The request of Hugh Goldsmith and Associates for approval of the plat of Forest
Ridge was held in abeyance unti I the developer, Street Committee and City Engineer
work out a suitable street pattern.
The report of fhe Aukeen District Municipal Court for January, 1965, was read,
showing a total of $2982.00 turned over to City Treasurer.

Richard F. Wolff submitted for approval an invoice, dated February 3, 1965, for
$1,005.70 for engineering services. payable from the Water Fund.
It was moved by Fitzsimmons and seconded by Sonnemann that Richard r Wolff
be paid $1,005.70 from the Water Fund for engineering services.

King County Road Fund No.2 submitted for approval an invoice for $220.00
for inspection charges, pvyable from the Wa~er-Sewer Construction Fund.
It was moved by Fitzsimmons and seconded by Sonnemann that King County Poad
Fund No.2 be paid $220.00 from the Water-Sewer Construction Fund for inspection
charges.

Jotm J. Kpough submitted for approval an invoice for court costs in the
amount of $393.10 in the Lu.her condemnation proceedings, payable from L.t .D. No. !55
Fund.
It was moved by Kline and seconded by Lea that John J. Keough be paid $3Q2.80
from the L. I .D. No. 155 Fund for court casts in the condemnation proceedings.

Mrs. Jerry Pierce submitted a letter requesting street lighfs in Forest Vi' la.
This request was referred to City Engineer and street Committee.
The Board of í<evi(~w approved the annexation of area 'ying between 26th ana 17th Sts.
N. r. and between the present East City limits of the City of Auburn and Green River.
It was moved by Sonnemann and seconded by Calkins that the City Attorney be
instructed to draw up the necessary Ordinance to implement the annexation of area
lying between 26th and 17th Sts. N. E. and between the present East City Limits of
the City of Auburn and Green River.
MOTION CARRIED
A letter from the Housing and Home Finance Agency stated that the U. S. Housing
Administrator, Robed C. Weaver, has determined that Auburn's Workable program for
Community improvement meets Feder-al requirements. Inclosed with letter were
Determination Certification.
Letters from Representative Brock Adams and Senator Warren G. Magnuson,
Washington, D. C. complimented Mayor Gaines and City Counci I on the approval of the
Housing and Home Finance Agency of the Workable Program for Commun,ity Improvement
in the City of Auburn.

A letter from Val Rupeiks of Clark, Coleman and Rupeiks presented tentative
contract for traffic and parking study.
It was moved by Kline and seconded by Aaby that the contract from Val Rupeiks

the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to sign this contract subject to City Attorney's
approva I .

authorized to record the easement of Huston B. Johnson and Mi Idred L. Johnson
subject to his approval.

Mayor Gaines appointed Ted Lea, Ernest Ames, and Gordon Dick to a committee
which wi I I look into the possibi lity of appointing a ful! time recreation director
for the city.

Counci Iman Lea reported that the damaged road surfacing at the intersection
of "R" Street Northeast and Henry Road has been taken care of.
He also reported that the drainage problem in front of Mr. Eby's business
on "C" Street Southwest is the obligation of the private property owner, not the
city.
