The Auburn Planning Commission recommended this request be granted. It was moved by Calkins and seconded by Hoyt that the public hearing be closed. NOTION CARRIED It was moved by Calkins and seconded by Aaby that the Counci I concur with the Auburn Planning Commission's recommendation and grant the rezoning from A-I to M-I property located on 30th NW between Auburn Avenue and A St. NW, and the City Attorney be instructed to draw up the necessary ordinance to implement same. Snodgrass submitted a Zone Change Application to rezone from A~T (Agriculture) to M-I (Light Industrial) property abutting 30th NE on the South and B St NWon the West and the N.P. Rai Iroad right-of-way situated immediately to the West of B St. NW. The Zone Change Application of Wi I liam and Norma D. Snodgrass was referred to the Planning Commission. A letter was received from the ~tate of Washington Census Board setting the unofficial population of Auburn as of Apri I I, 1965, as 14,800. Mayor Gaines asked that this letter be placed on fi Ie in the Clerk's Office. Harold A. Hagestad, City Engineer, submitted a request for permission to authorize G~()rge Schuler to attend the luncheon meeting of the Executive Committee of the Washington State Good Roads Association in Wenatchee May 21, 1965. It was moved by Lea and seconded by Sonnemann that City Engineer Hagestad's request be granted. NOT I ON CARR I ED A letter was received from Andersen, Bjornstad and Kane, consulting engineers on ~ their structural survey of the Auburn City Hall outlining earthquake damage. Mayor Gaines asked that this letter be placed on fi Ie in the Clerk's Office. Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Richards, 2310 Hemlock St., submitted a letter regarding alleged unsightly and rat infested area in vicinity of their home. This matter was referred to the City Engineer. Payment of $1864.00 from the Water-Sewer Construction Fund to the State of Washington D_~partment of Natural Resòurces for land, timber and reproduction costs for easement for Lea Hil I Sewer Line was submitted to the counci I for approval. It was moved by Fitzsimmons and seconded by Kline that the Payment of $1864.00 from the Water-Sewer Construction Fund to the State of Washington Department of Natural Resources for land, timber and reproduction costs for easement for Lea Hi II Sewer Line be approved. Bertha Hofmeister submitted a claim for damages for alleged injuries sustained when she tripped over step at entrance of the Polar 'Market. I This claim for damages was referred to the City's Insurance Committee. Fire Chief R. K. Calkins submitted a letter requesting permission for two men from the Fire Department to make an expense paid trip to Allentown, Pa., to take del ivery.of. the new Mack Fire truck. It was moved by Hoyt and seconded by Kline that this request be granted. NOT ION CARR I ED , Kenneth D. Lane submitted a letter requesting the zoning on the Massey property on East Val ley Highway north of Auburn be held temporarily in abeyance. Harold A. Hagestad, City Engineer, submitted a letter stating costs for LIP..IIJ()!..155 have been finalized at $432,018.62 and recommending Public Hearing be called for June 21, 1965, on the final assessment rol I. It was moved by Fitzsimmons and seconded by Aaby that the City Clerk be instructed to call for a public hearing to be held 8 p. m. June 21, 1965 at the Counci I Chambers in the City Hal I, and deliver notice of hearing to property owners. COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS I POLICE COMMITTEE - COUNCILMAN KLINE Counci Iman Kline reported that the Police Committee recommends the bid for purchase of two patrol cars for the Police Department be awarded to Val ley Garage for $1,961.00. Councilman Kline asked that Chief Darby & Captain McDermott be granted permission to attend the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Chiefs of Police Annual Conference June 16~ 17, 18, 19 at Longview, Washington. WATER DEPARTMENT - ROBERT TOLLEFSON, UTILITIES SUPERINTENDENT Uti Ii ties Superintendent Tollefson reported that the leak in the Lea Hi I I Water Tank has been repaired. NOTION CARRIED I ORDINANCE NO. 1789 It was moved by Kline and seconded by Lea that Ordinance No. 1789 entitled "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, AMENDING SECTION 7.04.410 OF THE AUBURN CITY CODE, SAID SECTION 7.04.410 RELATING TO AND PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF LICENSES TO CARRY CONCEALED WEAPONS, PURSUANT TO SECTION 41 OF ORDINANCE NO. 1500 OF-tHE CITY OF AUBURN, II be introduced and adopted. NOTION LOST The motion made by Aaby and seconded by Fitzsimmons to instruct the City Attorney to defend the City's position on the Pioneer Cemetery Property was Carried. I Discussion was had by the Counci I on the Matter of buying the Botting Property for a Park Facl I i ty. It was moved by Aaby and seconded by Calkins that this matter be tabled. NEW BUSINESS Attorney Smythe reported that he had a guit claim d~ed from D(3rio._--º.lJgini for alley. purposes, and needed authorization to record same. It was moved by Lea and seconded by Kline that the City Attorney be authorized to reocrd the quit claim deed from Dario Cugini for Alley purposes. NOTION CARRIED CLAIMS It was moved by Sonnemann and seconded by Calkins that the claims as approved by the Audit Committee be paid.
