PROCLAMATIONS, ANNOUNCEMENTS AND APPOINTMENTS
Mayor Gaines proclaimed Apr¡' 10, 1969 as BRAND NAMES DAY for the City of Auburn and
congratualated Jim Weese as Brand Name Retai ler-of-the-Year Award Winner for outstanding
year-round presentation of manufacturers' brand name products to the public.
COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS
FINANCE COMMITTEE - KLINE
Counci Iman KI ine, reporting for Finance Committee, reported a Finance Committee Meeting
had been held Apri I 4, 1969, at which time it was recommended that the Pub I ic Works
Department take al I five of the Pol ice Cars which are being replaced and two of the
older Public Works Vehicles be disposed of by sale, that there are sufficient monies
budgeted in Capital Outlay sections to provide for this action.

It was moved by Blakeney, seconded by Sonnemann, that the five police cars be pur-
chased by Pub 1 ic Works Department.

Counci Iman Kline, reporting for Finance Committee, stated the Finance Committee had
discussed letter request of Manson Drug for reimbursement for co I lection of uti ~ity
bi I Is for the City of Auburn, and it was the recommendation of the Finance Committee
that the sum of $25.00 per month be paid Manson Drug for collection of uti lity bi I Is
of the City of Auburn.
It was moved by Sonnemann, seconded by Fitzsimmons, that request of Manson Drug for
reimbursement for collection of uti lity bi I Is for the City of Auburn be referred to
the Uti lit Y Comm i t tee.

The Finance Committee further discussed remodeling of the newly acquired annex to
enable Public Works offices to move from the present City Hal I, and it was the
recommendation of the Finance Committee to engage an architect to expedite the
remodeling of the annex.
It was moved by Blakeney, seconded by Nickson, that an architect be engaged to assist
in the remodeling of the Bothel I Bui Iding, with the recommendation of the Street,
Planning and Engineering Committee.

Counci Iman Sonnemann, reporting for License Committee, stated the committee recommends
the approval of application of Mr. .Jinneman for a Verterinarian Clinic, and theapproval
of the application of Dixie A. Dotson for massage operator or massage parlor attendant.
It was moved by Sonnemann, seconded by Nickson, that the appl ication of Mr. Jinneman
for a Veterinarian Clinic be approved.

It was moved by Sonnemann, seconded by Blakeney, that the application of Dixie A. Dotson for
r1assage Operator or Massage Parlor Attendant's license be approved.

Councilman Sonnemann reported the License Cownittee will meet Wednesday, April 16, 1969,
at 7:30 P.M. in the Mayor's office, and invited the aDplicants for taxicab franchises to
be present at that time.
MUNICIPAL BUILDIN~ COMMITrEE - SONNE}~NN
Councilman Sonnemann reported the Hunicipal Building Committee held two Public meetin~s
regarding proposed new municipal building for the City of Auburn, one held at noon at the
Chamber of Corrunerce and one held at 7:30 P.H. in the Council Chambers of Auburn City Hall II
on Harch 31, 1969. A good. attendance was present at both meetings. The next meetingÐf
the Hunicipal Building Corrunittee will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 1969.
UTILITY COMMITTEE - FITZSIMMONS
Councilman Fitzsimmons, reporting for the Utility Committee, stated the Co~nittee had
discussed the inadequate water system in the area of Hi-Crest Drive and also inadequate
fire protection.
It was moved by Fitzsimmons, seconded by Darling, that a resolution type L.I.D. be created
to install an adequate water supply and fire protection and the City Attorney be instructed
to draw up the necessarv resolution L.I.D. for water extension and that a Public Hearing
be held Mav 5, 1969 at 8:00 P.B.

STREET, ENGINEERING AND PLANNING COl-1MITTEE - BLAKENEY
Councilman Blakeney, reporting for Street~ Engineering and Planning Corrunittee, stated
the bids for tractor-backhoe-loader for Street Division had been studied and it was the
recommendation of the Committee that the bid of Buck & Son for the sum of $8,933.17
be accepted, for the tractor-backhoe-loader for Street Division.
It was moved by Blakeney, seconded by Nickson, that bid be awarded to Buck and Son for
the sum of $8,933.17 for tractor-backhoe-loader for street Division.

Mr. George Schuler. Planning Director, gave a report on the population figure for the
City of Auburn, and the estimated population figure for 1969 at 21,382, with an increase
of 1808 persons over 1969 figure of 19,574, with an increase in our population of 8.43%.

Mayor Gaines requested the letter be referred to Utilities Committee and the Public
Works Director.
City Clerk Williams read Special Property Use Permit Application of John R. Hurt of
620 M St. N. E. for a special property use permit for a Dental Clinic.
It was moved by Blakeney, seconded by Sonnemann, that Special Property Use Permit
Application of John R. Hurt of 620 M st. N. E. be referred to the Planning Commission.

It was moved by Kline, seconded by Sonnemann, that bid bonds of unsuccessful bidders for
airport construction of runway and taxiways for the Auburn Municipal Airport be returned.
