the Comprehensive Land Use Plan. 8th Street S.E. will eventually become a major collector

AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION
Don Paulson of 44 5th Street N.E. stated that he ¡~as against the water rates and feels there
is no justification in charging Boeing and the Elks so mu-ch less than the public ci tizen.
Mr. Paulson feels there is too much inequality in the proposed water Tate increase. James
Corbin of 315 4th N.E. thaÍ1ked Councilmen Lea, Gavey, and Fiedler and Mr. Paulson for trying
to keep the rates do¡m for elderly c_i tizens. .Merwin Garrett of 409 pike N. E. stated that
he always ,uses less than the minimum water allo¡ved for minimum billing and feels he pays to
much. Hill Murphy of 3315 0 Street S.E. also stated that he ¡ÿas against the raise in !later
rates.

Gene Williams, Ci ty Clerk, read letter from Pat Nevins, Director of Pub.lic Woxks, regarding
the one bid on 12th N.E. from Auburn Way North to "1'1" Street N.E. requesting permission to
call for bids again.
It was moved by Sonnemann, seconded by Lea, that we rejèct the bid of Morris Construction~
Inc., because it is higher than the ~ublic Works estimate and not acceptable to Engineering.

Mayor Kersey announced June as quit smoking month. Dale Gavey is Chairman of Kick the Habit.
Mayor Kersey cormI1ended Mary Martinson on her fine job participating ¡'Ii th the Washington
Association for Retarded Children. The mayor was directed by Councilman Fiedler to !"rite a
letter to Mary Martinson letting her kno¡,¡ hOlv much the Ci ty appreciates her fine ¡vork.
Mayor Kersey announced that Metro Transik will hold meetings at the Kent City Hall on June 7
at 7:30 P.l1. (fvednesday), at the Bellevue City Hall on June 6 at 7:30 P.M. (Tuesday), and
at the Ames Theater in Seattle on June 7 (Wednesday).
The Mayor announced that a claim had been filed against the City and he referred it to
the Utili ty Commi ttee and Finance Commi ttee for revie¡v.
The Mayor 'ackno¡,,1edged having recei ved a letter from Mrs. Van ¡-foolery regarding telephone
and power poles in the Ci ty of Auburn and her complaint regarding the ¡videning of "A" Street.
