,'!âyor Kersey recognized CouncLlman Darling, Chairman of the Airport Corm-rittee., and
Cha.i ri1an Darling reported that he had recei ved detailed inrormation from the Di~ector
or Finance/ Gene Williams, and Nr. Jim Gay in regard to advance refunding. The
ComI'd ttee had discussed in detail the advantages of advance refunding pf the 1970
Bond Issue, Hm.¡ever, the 1968 Issue is not recorœnended ror advance refunding at this
-time.
PI'. Bob Sims, of Blyth, Eastman and Dillon Company., Inc., reported to the Council
that he was not able to compile and present, at this meeting, the final tabulations
and specifications ror these Ü¡O bond issues (the 1970 G. O. Bond Issue and the
1969 Water/Sewer Revenue Bond Issue) as he had planned to do.
Arter further discussion by the Councilmen and the Mayor, it was moved by Holman.,
seconded by Fiedler, that Mr. Sims secure and prepare the necessary details and sublT'..i. t
them to l1ayor Kersey and that the Mayor, Di rector of Finance, a.nd the ci ty Attorney be
authorized to implement the Advance Refunding of these two issues.
ROLL CALL VOTE: All Councilmen voting YES.
MOTION CARRIED
PROCLAMATIONS, APPOINTMENTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
Mayor Kersey proclaimed Tuesday, May 1, 1973, as "Laç.¡ Day U.S.A." in the City of
lwburn, vlashing'ton, and as requested by the President and the Congress of the uni ted
Sta tes, he urges tha t our Auburn Ci ti zens observe "Laç.¡ Day" wi th appropriate public
ceremonies through public bodies and private organizations, in schoòls and other
suitable places. He especially requests that the legal profession, all media of
public information, and the courts take the lead in sponsoring, participating and
publicizing observances throughout the City of Auburn. And, he calls upon public
officials to display the Nation's Flag on public buildings on that day.
The Mayor announced that he had sent a letter to the Secretary of State, The Honorable
Ludlow Kramer, requesting information on the requirements of Initiative 276 in
regard to filing for local government offices in the upcoming election.
The meating was adjourned at 8:40 P.M. by Mayor Kersey.
