HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-30-1995CITY Of AUBURN COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES of the November 20, 1995 meeting that recessed to November 28, 1995 and November 29, 1995 at 5:00 p.m. and November 30, 1995 at 6:00 p.m. Mayor Charles A. Booth reconvened the meeting at 6:04 p.m., Thursday, November 30, 1995, for the purpose of continuing the discussion of the position of Municipal Court Judge. Those in attendance included Mayor Booth and the following Councilmembers: Pat Burns, Rich Wagner, Trish Borden, Stacey Brothers, and Don Kurle. Councilmembers Barber and Haugen were absent. Staff members present included: Police Chief Dave Purdy, Personnel Director Brenda Kennedy, City Attorney Michael Reynolds, City Clerk Robin Wohlhueter, and Deputy City Clerk Dani Daskam. CALL TO ORDER Do A,qenda Modifications An agenda modification dated November 30, 1995 adds Ordinance No. 4816 to the November 20, 1995 City Council Agenda and is transmitted under Item VII.A.5 of these minutes. VII. ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS A. Ordinances Ordinance No. 4816 A1.4.1, A4.5.2 An Ordinance of the City of Auburn, King County, Washington, amending Auburn Municipal Code Section 2.14.030 to provide for a two-year appointment beginning January 1, 1996 and ending December 31, 1997 and declaring an emergency. City Attorney Reynolds explained that Ordinance No. 4809, adopted by the City Council on November 28, 1995, provides for the term sequencing for municipal court judge. The effective date of Ordinance No. 4809 will be five days after publication of the ordinance; publication of the ordinance is not yet scheduled. Ordinance No. 4816 is identical to Ordinance No. 4809 but also includes an emergency clause which makes the ordinance effective upon adoption by the City Council. City Attorney Reynolds stated Ordinance No. 4816 and its emergency clause is a precautionary ordinance to allow the City Council to confirm an appointment to municipal court judge under the term sequencing provisions contained in Ordinance Nos. 4809 and 4816. Motion by Councilmember Burns, second by Councilmember Borden to introduce and adopt Ordinance No. 4816. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 5-0. Councilmember Haugen arrived at 6:09 p.m. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to come before the City Council this evening, Mayor Booth adjourned the meeting at 6:09 p.m. Charles A.
