CITY COUNCIL STUDY SESSION
JUNE6, 1996 - 6:30 PM
CITY HALL, COUNCIL WORK AREA
MINUTES
The meeting convened at 6:30 PM in the City Hall Council Work Area located in
the Mayor's Office. Those in attendance included Mayor Charles A. Booth and
Councilmembers Rich Wagner, Sue Singer, Jeanne Barber, Fred Poe, Gene
Cerino, Trish Borden, and Stacey Brothers. Also in attendance was Linda
Cowen, Facilitator. There were no guests.
City Council Study Session Summary
Linda Cowan, facilitator, presented seminar group activities that surfaced areas
of agrument and divergence in Council member priorities for the upcoming
budget process. Each of the three sessions included Councilmembers and the
Mayor in small group process followed by discussion, summary and concensus
building. Each member was given the same amount colored dots used for group
prioritizing and consensus building for each discussion item.
Areas of common interest include:
-Greater cooperation with other jurisdictions (11 );
-Fostering neighborhood continued cooperation and involvement (10);
-Continued cooperation with schools (8);
-Establishing a TIP that works (5);
-Preserving the essence of Auburn (4);
-Increasing the reserve to support essential services (2);
-Making Auburn a better place for children and families.
Other areas of interest include:
(Group priority and consensus building was not utilized in this section)
-Building a library; expanding parks and recreational facilities supporting
programs that promote the safety of kids.
-Expanding activities for kids and schools, and foster pride in our community and
maintaining present rural residential areas.

-Establishing boundaries between legislative and executive functions (8)

-Staff Council communication (1)

Areas of interest for goal selling at planning retreat to be scheduled include:
-Enchancing revenue (9);
-Curfew (8);
-Achieving greater cooperation with neighboring cities and tribes (8);
-Building a library (8);
-Improving transportation (3);
-Completing the storm drainage plan (1);
-Achieving orderly annexation (1);
-Fostering relationships with the schools, and understanding administrative,
legislative boundaries.
The City Council Study Session adjourned at 9:20 PM.
