SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
I. CAll TO ORDER
Mayor Peter B. Lewis called the special meeting of the Auburn City
Council to order at 5:30 p.m. The purpose of the special meeting was to
review the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) operation and
capabilities. The following Councilmembers were present during the
meeting: Rich Wagner, Gene Cerino, Bill Peloza, Roger Thordarson, and
Lynn Norman. Staff members present included: Public Works Director
Dennis Dowdy, Traffic Engineer laura Philpot, Information Services
Director Lorrie Rempher, Network Analyst Colin Schmalz, Traffic
Operations Engineer Ryan Johnstone, Fire Chief Russ Vandver,
Executive Assistant Duanna Richards, and Deputy City Clerk Cathy
Richardson.
II. PRESENTATION BY THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT ON THE
INTELLIGENT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM
Director Dowdy welcomed attendees and introduced Traffic Engineer
Laura Philpot and Traffic Operations Engineer Ryan Johnstone.
Ms. Philpot and Mr. Johnstone displayed a "real time" presentation of the
ITS cameras and demonstrated various capabilities and numerous
configurations of the system. Councilmembers monitored traffic at several
intersections and observed the effect of manually controlling the traffic
signal timing at peak traffic.

There being no further discussion, the meeting adjourned at 6:39 p.m.
