Permit .for a nursing home to R-4 be approved and the city attorney be instructed to draw up the necessary ordinance to include the Planning Commission recommendations on Plan No. 2 and agreement as set forth and heard tonight. Stewart, 6927 So. 285th, Kent, representing 37 property owners and neighbors, gave a statement oppos.iny the rezone for safety, agricultural and ecology reasons' and because .inadequate and insufficient natice was given concerning the annexation of t:he px•aperty to the City of Auburn. Jim A.uker, 28535 PTest Valley Highway, owner of the property across the .road, opposed the rezone because he felt strongly that the .fertile agricultural lands should be preserved. Many home owners had bu.i.lt homes in the area expecting the area to remain country estate and they tog opposed the rezoning. .Howard Cottier° 6302 S. 287th, Kent, opposed t_•t~e rezone because no one knew about the annexation and the Planning-Commission public hearing notice had no time or place lssted on it. It was moved by Craig, seconded by Larson, that the public hearing be closed. Craig questioned the city attorney, who deferred to George Schuler, regarding. t.~e notification of the annexation. Walt vav.is, 208 29th St. S.E., representing a group of petitioners against the rezone, asked that .i_f the rezone is approved that it be done with explicit conditions: (1) sanitation and storm drainage problems worked out, (2) entrance and exit be permitted only on '29th 5t. S.E. and (3) screening be explicitly spelled out. E1.izabeth Welch, 3008 "C" St. S.E., concurred with Mr. Davis and asked that the council consider the recommendations. George Schuler responded by saying that they were trying to put as much ground water back into the ground as possible.
