engines, coaches, or cars may be run over'or across any grade crossing
within the corporate limits of the City of Auburn, and reCluiring all
grade crossings 0 f railroad tracks wi thin said limits to be kep't
open Dnd free, ond prescribing penalties for violations hereof.

The City Council of the Cit~l of Auburn do ordain as fo~low~:

conveyance of persons or property for hire, the trail1s of which are
operated over fixed rails.
The terrll "railro ad company", when used in th is Ordinance, in-
cludes every' corporation, company, association, joint stock associa-
tion, partnership, or persons, its, their~ or his lessees, trustees,
or rece i vel' appo inted by any COU1.t \7hatsoever, owning, operat ing,
controlling, or managing any railroad as that term is definet!. in
this section.

The term "grade crossi ng , Ylhen used in th is Ordillance, means
any point or place where a ra:1lroad crosses a street. or highvlay, or
a street or highway cros ses a railroad wi thin the corporate limits
of the City of Auburn, at a COlTIL1on gra(le.
