HomeMy WebLinkAbout3534 ORDINANCE NO. 3 5 3 4 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, ADOPTING THE 1980 EDITION OF THE WASHINGTON STATE ENERGY CODE. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. There is hereby adopted by reference, upon the effective date of this Ordinance, and upon filing with the City Clerk, three (3) copies of the following described Code as prepared by the Washington State Building Cade Advisory Council: A. THE WASHINGTON STATE ENERGY CODE, 1980 EDITION; together with any amendments thereto. Section 2. The purpose of this Code is to provide minimum standards for new buildings and structures or portions thereof to achieve efficient use of energy. r Section 3. On and after the effective date,of this Ordinance, there shall be imposed an Energy Code Plan Checking Fee. This fee shall be paid at the time an application for a building permit is requested and plans are submitted for review. Fees shall be in accordance with the following fee schedule, to-wit: For buildings or structures 5,000 square feet or less - $20.00. For buildings up to 100,000 square feet - $20.00 for the first 5,000 square feet plus $5.00 for each additional 5,000 square feet or fraction thereof. For buildings over 100,000 square feet - $115.00 for the first 100,000 square feet plus $2.00 for each additional 5,000 square feet or fraction thereof. Section 4. The Energy Code Plan Checking Fee will be waived if the engineer or architect licensed to do business in the State of Washington certifies on the plans that to the best of his knowledge, understanding, and belief the design meets the requirements of the State Energy Code. -------------------- Ordinance No. 3534 Page One 7-28-80 Section 5. In addition to the requirements of the State Energy Code, buildings must conform to the provisions of the State Building Code. In case of conflicts under the Uniform Building; Plumbing or Mechanical Codes, the provisions of the State Energy Code shall govern. Section 6. Unless another penalty is expressly provided by law, every person convicted of a violation of any provisions of this Ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not more than three hundred dollars ($300.00) or by imprisonment for not more than ninety (90) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment. Section 7. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force five (5) days from and after its passage, approval and publication, as provided by law and effective September 1, 1980.
