AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
WASHINGTON, AMENDING AUBURN CITY CODE SECTIONS 2.16.010 AND
2.16.020 WHICH ARE CONTAINED IN CHAPTER 2.16 ENTITLED
"AUDITING OFFICER" TO DESIGNATE THE FINANCE DIRECTOR OR
HIS/HER DESIGNEE AS AUDITING OFFICER AlqD TO REFLECT
LEGISLATIVE CHANGES CONTAINED IN WASHINGTON LAWS 1995, CHAPTER
301, §72.
WHEREAS, Auburn City Code Section 2.16.010 provides for
appointment of an Auditing Officer for the City of Auburn by
the Mayor; and
WHEREAS, to eliminate unnecessary duplication of duties
the Finance Director or his/her designee shall fill the
position of auditing officer; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to

State Legislature which are contained in Washington Laws 1995,
Chapter 301, §72.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

~ Auburn City Code Section 2.16.010 which is
contained in Chapter 2.16 entitled "Auditing Officer" is
hereby amended as follows:
2.16.010 Established - Appointment.
Pursuant to the provisions of RCW
42.24.080, the position of auditing officer for the
city is established, and the position shall be
filled by ((appcintmcnt cf tko may~r)) ~

~ Auburn City Code Section 2.16.020 which is
contained in Chapter 2.16 entitled "Auditing Officer" is
hereby amended as follows:
2.16.020 Claims processing data.
The auditing officer for the city shall
receive all claims presented against the city by
persons furnishing materials, rendering services, or
performing labor, or for any other contractual
purpose. The auditing officer shall audit such

claims before payment. Such claims shall be
prepared for audit and payment on a form and in the
manner prescribed by the (( ......... ......... ~ ..... :~'lpal

Office)). The form shall provide for the
authentication and certification by the auditin9
officer that the materials have been furnished, the
services rendered, or the labor performed as
described, and that the claim is a just, due and
unpaid obligation against the city. No claim shall
be paid without such authentication and
certification, provided that the certificates as to
claims of officers and employees of the city for
services rendered shall be made by the person
charged with the duty of preparin9 and submittin9
vouchers for the payment of services, and he ~
shall certify that the claim is just, true, and
unpaid, which certificate shall be part of the
voucher.

~ The Mayor is hereby authorized to implement
such administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry
out the directions of this legislation.
~ This Ordinance shall take effect and be in
force five (5) days from and after its passage, approval and
publication, as provided by law.
