AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
WASHINGTON, FIXING THE AMOUNT TO BE RAISED BYAD VALOREM
TAXES FOR FISCAL YEAR 1998 FOR THE CITY OF AUBURN,
WASHINGTON, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF R.C.W. 35A.33.135.
WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Auburn has met and considered
its budget for calendar year 1998; and
WHEREAS the City Council, in the course of considering the budget for
1998 has reviewed all sources of revenue and examined all anticipated
expenses and obligation; and
WHEREAS the City Council has determined that, due to obligations from
fixed union labor contracts, recent failure of the six-year EMS levy, increased
contributions required for street improvements, and state legislated exemptions
on sales taxes, the City Council finds that there is a substantial need to increase
the regular property tax limit factor above the rate of inflation.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The limit factor for the regular levy for the calendar year
1998 shall be One Hundred Five and Twenty One Hundredths pement of the
highest amount of regular property taxes that could have been lawfully levied in
the City in any year since 1985.

Ordinance, is for any reason held to be invalid or unconstitutional, such invalidity
or unconstitutionality of the remaining portions of this Ordinance, as it is being
hereby expressly declared this Ordinance and each section, subsection, clause
phrase or sentence, be declared invalid or unconstitutional.
Section 3. The Mayor is hereby authorized to implement such
administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directions of this
legislation.
Section 4. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force five (5) days
from and after its passage, approval and publication, as provided by law.
