AN ORDINANCE 0P THE CITY 0P AUBURN, WASHINGTON, ANNEXING TO
THE CITY A 2.79 ACRE PARCEL OF LAND LOCATED AT THE EAST END OF
EAST MAIN STREET.

5 WHEREAS, in accordance with Chapter 35A.14 RCW, the
owners of 87% percent of value according to the assessed
7 valuation for general taxation of certain lands in King
8 County, Washington, and more particularly described in Section
9 1 of this Ordinance, filed their petition with the City
]0 Council of the City of Auburn, Washington, petitioning to have
annexed to the City of Auburn the said described land; and
]2 WHEREAS, in accordance with Chapter 35A.14 RCW various
proceedings were held; and
14 WHEREAS, notice of intention to annex was filed with the
King County Boundary Review Board; and
WHEREAS, the King County Boundary Review Board approved
17 the annexation effective April 16, 1998; and
18 WHEREAS, it appears to the City of Auburn, that said
19 annexation meets the requirements specified by law; the
20 procedure for the filing with the City of Auburn by the
21 requisite number of property owners of their notice of
22 intention to commence annexation proceedings, to and including
the consideration of the passage of this ordinance also meets
24 the requirements, specified by law; and the lands proposed to
25

! be annexed are contiguous to the City of Auburn and have not
heretofore been incorporated in as a City or Town;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,

WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
5 Section 1. That there shall be annexed to the City of
Auburn, Washington, the property situated in the County of

King, State of Washington, legally described as follows:

9 That portion of the northeast quarter of the
southwest quarter of Section 17, Township 21
10 North, Range 5 East, W.M. described as follows:
11 Beginning on a point on the Auburn City Limits as
established by City of Auburn Ordinance No. 1543,
]2 said point lying 86.7 feet east of the east line
of Lot 1 of King County Short Plat KCSP677082
(Recording No. 8203170297), thence south along a
line parallel with the east line of said Lot 1 to
]4 the south line of the north 330 feet of the
northeast quarter of the southwest quarter of
15 Section 17, Township 21, Range 5 E.W.M., thence
east along said line to the west bank ~f the
Green River; thence northerly along the west bank
of the Green River to its intersection with the
]7 Auburn Limits as established by Ordinance No.
1543; thence west along said City Limits to the
18 east terminus of East Main Street; thence south
following the east terminus of East Main Street
19 to the south right of way line of said East Main
Street, also the City Limits as established by
20 Ordinance No. 1543; thence west along said City
Limits to the point of beginning.
22 Section 2. That the property hereby annexed shall be
assessed and taxed at the same rate and on the same basis as
24 other property within the City of Auburn is assessed and taxed

! to pay for any outstanding general indebtedness of the City to
which the area was annexed.
Section 3. That the annexation of the property will

become effective on the effective date of this Ordinance and
5
the property shall become part of the City of Auburn, subject
to all of the laws and ordinances of the City then otherwise
7
provided by law.

Seotion 4. Within ten (10) days after the effective date
9
of the annexation referred to in this ordinance, the City
]0
Clerk of the City of Auburn shall send to the Office of the
11
Clerk of the County Council one (1) certified copy of this
12
Ordinance together with a copy of a letter from the Executive
Secretary of the King County Boundary Review Board, which
14
letter contains a copy of the decision of the Boundary Review
15
Board relating to this annexation.
Section 5.. The City Clerk of the City of Auburn shall
18 file a certified copy of this Ordinance with the King County
Department of Assessments, Accounting Division.
20 Section ~. The Mayor is hereby authorized to implement
21 such administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry
22 out the directions of this legislation.

! Section 7. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in

force five days from and after its passage, approval and
publication as provided by law.
