HomeMy WebLinkAbout5169 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 ORDINANCE NO. 5 I 6 9 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE LEVY OF REGULAR PROPERTY TAXES BY THE CITY OF AUBURN FOR COLLECTION IN 1999, REPRESENTING AN INCREASE OVER REGULAR PROPERTY TAXES LEVIED FOR COLLECTION IN 1998. WHEREAS, Chapter 3, Laws of 1997, as approved November 4, 1997, by the voters of the State of Washington in "Referendum 47", requires a separate ordinance in order for the City of Auburn to make its regular 1998 property tax levy for collection in 1999 in the amount of $9,657,454; and WHEREAS, pursuant to RCW 84.55.120 the City Council held public hearings on September 21, 1998 and November 2, 1998 after proper notice was given, to consider the City of Auburn's 1999 budget and the regular property tax levy to support it; and WHEREAS, the City Council, after public hearing, and after duly considering all relevant evidence and testimony presented, has determined that the City requires an increase in property tax revenue from the previous year, in addition to the increase resulting from the addition of new construction and improvements to property and any increase in the value of state-assessed property, in order to discharge the expected expenses and obligations of the City and in its best interest. Regular property taxes for collection in 1999 are authorized in the amount of $9,657,454. Not including increases resulting from the addition of new construction and improvements to property and any increase in the value of state assessed property, the regular property tax levy for 1999 collection represents an increase from regular property taxes levied for collection in 1998 of Seventy Nine Thousand Two Hundred Eighty Seven Dollars ($79,287) which is Eighty Five hundredths percent (.85%) increase from the previous year. Section 2. caused by uneven cash flow requirements for tax funds, the Finance Director is hereby authorized to individual property tax receipts in a manner that interfund loans. Section 3.
