AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
WASHINGTON, AMENDING AUBURN CITY CODE SECTION 15.06.010
ENTITLED "UNIFORM CODES ADOPTION" CONTAINED IN AUBURN CITY
CODE CHAPTER 15.06 ENTITLED "UNIFORM CODES ADOPTION" TO
REFLECT ADOPTION OF THE 1997 EDITION OF THE UNIFORM BUILDING
CODES AND STANDARDS, CORRECTION OF REFERENCES TO THE
WASHINGTON ADMINISTRATIVE CODE AND CERTAIN CLARIFICATIONS TO
ARTICLES 9, 79 AND 81 OF THE UNIFORM FIRE CODE.
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed Auburn City Code
Title 15 entitled "Buildings and Construction" and determined
that the Title should be reorganized for better clarity; and
WHEREAS, the City of Auburn desires to amend Auburn City
Code Chapter 15.06 entitled "Uniform Codes Adoption" which
adopts certain 1997 Uniform Codes included in the State
Building Code as authorized by RCW 19.27.031 and certain
designated rules contained in the Washington Administrative
Code with specified exceptions and amendments set forth fully
in the appropriate chapters of the Auburn City Code as
authorized by RCW 19.27.040.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. PURPOSE. The purposes of this Ordinance are
as follows:
Amend 'Chapter 15.06 entitled "Uniform Codes Adoption" of
the Auburn City Code and to therein adopt the 1997 Uniform
Ordinance No. 5184

Codes as adopted by the State Building Code under the
authority of RCW 19.27.031 and certain designated rules
contained in the Washington Administrative Code with specified
exceptions and amendments as set forth fully in the
appropriate chapters of the Auburn City Code as authorized by
RCW 19.27.040.
Section 2. AMENDS AUBURN CITY CODE CHAPTER 15.06. Title
15 to Auburn City Code Chapter 15.06 entitled "Uniform Codes
Adoption" is hereby amended and is fully set forth in Exhibit
"A" attached hereto and incorporated herein.
Section 3. CONSTITUTIONALITY OR INVALIDITY. If any
section, subsection, clause or phrase of this Ordinance is for
any reason held to be invalid or unconstitutional, such
invalidity or unconstitutionality shall not affect the
validity or constitutionality of the remaining portions of
this Ordinance, as it being hereby expressly declared that
this Ordinance and each section, subsection, sentence, clause
and phrase hereof would have been prepared, proposed, adopted
and approved and ratified irrespective of the fact that any
one or more section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase be
declared invalid or unconstitutional.

Section 4. The Mayor is hereby authorized to implement
such administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry
out the directions of this legislation.
Section 5. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in
force five days from and after its passage, approval and
publication as provided by law.

15.06.020 Conflicts between codes.
In case of conflict between codes enumerated in ACC
15.06.010(A) through (G), the first named code shall govern
over those following; except where, in any specific case,

different sections of these codes specify different materials,
methods of construction or other requirements, the most
restrictive shall govern; and where there is a conflict
between a general requirement and a specific requirement, the
specific requirement shall be applicable.
15.06.030 Exceptions.
The exceptions and amendments to the Uniform Codes
contained in the provisions of Chapter 19.27 RCW shall apply
in cases of conflict with any of the provisions of the
chapters of the Washington Administrative Code which are
adopted by reference in this chapter.
