HomeMy WebLinkAbout5669 ORDINANCE NO. 5 6 6 9 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, AMENDING AUBURN CITY CODE SECTION 13.06.360 PERTAINING TO AUBURN WATER RATES. WHEREAS, the City of Auburn City Council Adopted Ordinance No. 5664 on May 20, 2002, providing for amendment to Water Rates including changes to be effective on June 1, 2002; and WHEREAS, the changes in said Ordinance No. 5664 were to eliminate rates for "take or pay" since an agreement between the City and Water District No. 111 and Covington Water District had not been reached; and WHEREAS, an agreement for "take or pay" has been signed by Water District No. 111 and Covington Water District and authorized for signature by Auburn under Resolution No. 3482; and WHEREAS, the "take or pay" rates for wholesale water to be sold to Water District No. 111 and Covington Water District may now be implemented. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, IN A REGULAR MEETING DULY ASSEMBLED, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Purpose. The purpose of this amendment is to incorporate changes in the water rates for Water District No. 111 and Covington Water Ordinance No. 5669 June 11,2002 Page 1 District wholesale customer class. The wholesale quantity charge for Water District No. 111 and Covington Water District becoming effective July 1, 2002, is being amended to more closely conform with the Cost of Service for historical usage patterns. Section 2. Auburn City Code Chapter 13.06, entitled "WATER UTILITY - GENERAL REGULATIONS," specifically Section 13.06.360 entitled "Rates - Generally" is hereby amended to adopt rate changes effective July 1, 2002, as follows: 13.06.360 Rates - Generally Effective January 1, 2000, the monthly rates for water supplied by meter shall be as follows: Customer Class Base Charge Quantity Charge per 100 cubic feet Single-family residential$ 6.82 $ .87 Multifamily residential $14.92 $ .92 Commercial $15.05 $1.04 Manufacturing/industrial $15.03 $ .94 Schools $14.96 $ .99 City accounts $15.05 $1.35 Irrigation only $ 6.25 $1.30 Wholesale $ .76 Algona, Pacific, and Kent $31.72 WD #111 (and Covington) $340.33 Provided, however, that 37 percent shall be added to all rates for water service outside the city limits. City of Auburn utility taxes are included in the monthly rate for all customers except wholesale accounts. Wholesale rates exclude the 37 percent out of city service charge and state excise taxes. Section 3. Severability. The provisions of this ordinance are declared to be separate and severable. The invalidity of any clause, sentence, paragraph, subdivision, section or portion of this ordinance, or the invalidity of the application thereof to any person or circumstance shall not affect the validity Ordinance No. 5669 June 11,2002 Page 4 of the remainder of this ordinance, or the validity of its application to other persons or circumstances. Section 4. Implementation. The Mayor is hereby authorized to implement such administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directions of this legislation. Section 5. Effective date. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force five (5) days from and after its passage, approval and publication, as provided by law, and on July 1,2002.
