AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, AMENDING SECTION
10.24.020 OF THE AUBURN CITY CODE RELATING TO
ONE-WAY ALLEYS DESIGNATED
WHEREAS, The Auburn City Code currently restricts certain alleys to allow only
one way traffic; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that allowing two-way travel on the alley
immediately south of 2nd Street SE between "A" Street Southwest and Division Street
creates a safety hazard; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to amend the City Code to provide for one-way
travel on the alley with entrance on Division Street and exiting onto A Street SW.
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN as follows:
Section 1. AMENDMENT TO CITY CODE
That Section 10.24.020 entitled "be amended as follows:
10.24.020 One-way alleys designated.
Upon those alleys described in this section, vehicular traffic shall move only in
the indicated direction when signs indicating the direction of traffic are erected and
maintained at every intersection where movement in the opposite direction is prohibited,
and a vehicle passing around a rotary traffic island shall be driven only to the right of
such island:
A. On the alley immediately south of Main Street running in an easterly and
westerly direction, and between "B" Street Southwest and Auburn Way South, in a
westerly direction;
B. On the alley immediately north of Main Street running in an easterly and
westerly direction and between "B" Street Northwest and "A" Street Northwest, in an
easterly direction;
C. On the alley immediately north of Main Street running in an easterly and
westerly direction, from North Division Street, east to its intersection with Auburn
Avenue, in a westerly direction;

D. From Auburn Avenue to Auburn Way North on the alley immediately north
of Main Street, in an easterly direction;
E. On the alley immediately north of 1st Street Northeast running in an
easterly and westerly direction between Auburn Way North and Auburn Avenue, in a
westerly direction;
F. On the alley immediately north of West Main Street, between "A" Street
Northwest and North Division Street, in a westerly direction~
G. On the alley immediately south of 2nd Street SE runninQ in an easterly and
westerly direction, and between "A" Street Southwest and Division, in a westerly

Section 3. IMPLEMENTATION.
The Mayor is hereby authorized to implement such administrative procedures as
may be necessary to carry out the directives of this legislation.
Section 4. GENERAL SEVERABILITY.
If any portion of this Ordinance or its application to any person or circumstances
is held invalid, the remainder of the Ordinance or the application of the provision to
other persons or circumstances shall not be affected.
Section 5. EFFECTIVE DATE.
That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effective five (5) days from and after
its passage, approval, and publication, as provided by law.
