This growth can be noted by reviewing the following indicators: enrollment trend data, proposed housing development, the increase in the assessed valuation of the real property and the mitigation impact fees received for new conshuction. The Dislricl conlinues to expet-ience slow, steady o owth in student enrollment. This has mirrored the Pierce County and Puget Sound Educational Service District (PSESD) eruollment growth over the same period. A review of proposed construckion within tlie borders of the Dieringer Schaol District indicates that the growth trend can be expected to continue over the next four years and beyond. There are 6$4 singIe fam.ily residents slated for canstruction wiChin the next four years. The multi-family project, transferred from Pierce County to the Cily of Auburn, will contribute an additional 59 residential units duiincy. These projects together witIi individuai lots and general in-mib alion are anticipated ta generate an additiona1495 students in ltindergarten tluough eighth 8 ade. Tnformation from Pierce county Planning & Land Sezvices indicates that there is space and zoning for approximately 1,200 additional housing lots in the western portion of the dislrict. This creates a potential for 576 additional students, kindergarten througiz eiglith grade, that are not included in the above numbers. • Ta partially address this growth, the District passed a?00G bond issue to construct an additional f ve classrooms at Dieringer Heights Elementary. TEle bond issue also provides far tlle addition of an auxiliary gym, health and fitness classroom, and four science rooms at North Tapps Middle School; these projects have delayed due to an extended permitling process and are anticipated to be completed in 2009. Future anticipated growth will create the need to acquire an additional school site and construct an additional school to liouse the growing student enrollment. • Dieringer School District Proposed Housing • Potential Enrollment Increase April, ?oas Proposed Housing Units for Approved Developments: Single Family- 6$4 x.48 generation faclor = 328 students K-8 grade Multi-family - 59 x.1149 generation factor = 7 students K-8 a ade (Calculated based on Auburn SD 2005 Generation Factor) Proposed Housing Units from Individual Lots and In-migration: 160 students K-8 grade Enroilment Impact: 495 students K-8 Estimated 99 students a year over the period 2009-2014 • Potential five year enrollment increase = 39.13°Io (Uased on 1,265 enrollment 4-08) Increase per grade level = 55 students Approximately 165 students per school • H4USTNG DEVE, LOPMENTS April, 2008 . #1 Fairweather Cove Estates {25} - Notice of application 1/24101 - 28 Single Family LoCs - 1600-2000 Uloclc of 16"' St. @ the 17500-17800 block af Sumner-Tapps Hwy. - 3 Iots sold; 3 houses under construction #2 Rainier Plateau (10) Notice of application 10/13/00 - i0_Sinale Eami7_ys.ots - Encl of 34't' St - Site worlc underway; home construction 200$ #3 Grandview Ridge II ancl III (9) - Off Sumner-Tapps Hwy. across from Driftwood and Deer Island Dr. - Grandview Ridge Natice of Application 1/13/99 - 50 SingIe Family Lots; completed - III (91ots) no date #4 Northtal{e (167) -north of Lalce Tapps Elementary -Preliminary Plat 7/23/02 ~ -193 Single Family Lots -foundatians beginning 12/07 #5 The Estates (198) -Notice af application 8/27/04 -234 single family Lots -South of road terminus from Lal:eland Hills Hwy. -construction starting summer 2007; occupancy winter 2008; 10 per month/30 per quarter #b Tapps Meadow (Van Der Hoelc) (11) -Notice of application 9/13/04 -11 large lots -across from Snag Island -site work #7 Country Creelc Estates (9) -9 Single Farnily Lots -off IS`~' near Edwards Road -No construction in near future; looking for con#ractoi• #8 I+orest Canyon Estates (121) -121 Single Family Lots -off Forest Canyan Rd. • -site worlc spring 2008; completian 2010 #9 Forest Canyon Heiglits (I2) -21 Single Family Lots -off Forest Canyan Rd. - 9 homes fa1120Q7; 9 more homes in 2008 #10 Terrace View Tawn liomes (59) • -59 units; l, 2& 3 bedroom units; East Valley and Lalce Tapps Plcwy. -Auburn City Limits -Site worlr/construction fa112007; 2008 completion #11 Carter Estates (16) -16 Single Family Lots - Lalce Tapps Parkway and 179`h -16 homes 1~-elsarlatie-Avenuie-(6) -G Single Family Lots Lalte Tapps Parlcway and 176`h -G homes #13 Auburn Annexation (100) -100 Single Family Lots Total Single-Family Units 684 Total MuIti-Family Units 59 4/08 + • • Standard of Service The Dieringer Schaol District houses children in elementary schools serving students lcindergarten through fifth grade and a middle school tllat houses grades six tlirougli ei'ahth. High school students, arades nine tIlrough twelve, attend adjacent high schools, primarily in the Auburn School District. Dierin~er School District follaws a traditional scl~ool calendar beginning in early September and completing in mid June. The daily school schedules bep~qn between 7:49 _ and 8:45 a.m. and end Uetween 2:17 and 3:15 p.m. The Dieringer School District standard of service is Uased on class size and pragram. decisions adopted by the Dieringer Schoal District Board of Directors. Due to the passage of Initiative 728 and in lceeping with the district philosophy regarding class size, the targeted number of students per classroom Icinclergarten through third grade is 22, fourlh lhrough fifth grade 25 and sixtli through eighth a-ade 27. These class sizes have an impact on facilities and the germanent capacity of each schaol reflects these class sizes. In the Disuicl, rooms designated and assigned for special use are not counted as capacity ciassrooms. At the elementary level students are provided music instruction, physical ~ education and art instruction in separate, non-capacity classrooms. Computer labs are provided at each school as non-capacity spaces. Special education and remedial programs are provided as pullout programs and do not provide capacity. At the middIe school level, instruction is organized around a six periad day; classrooms are calculated as providing 5/6 capacity to accammodate teaclier planning time in the instructional space. i • DIERINGER SCH4OL DISTRrCT NO. 343 api"al Fadli es Plail -pdate,00$ Dieringer School District Service Standards Public School Facilities (Square Feet Per Student_)_ Elementary School 120 Middle Schoal 189 Junior High NA ` High School NA Dierinp,er School District Individual Canacity Pro_iects (2009-2014) NAME CAPACITY Dieringer Hei~hEs Elementary 116 Five Classroom Addition Elementary Schooi No. 3 400 North Tapps Middle School 162 Science Labs, Auxiliary Gym, Healtli and Fitness Classraom Addition Higli School NA • • DTERINGER SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 343 Capital Facilities Plan Update, April 200$ CFP Projects and Financing Plan Sources and Uses of Funds {x 1,000} Sources of Funds Existing Revenue: B oild Proceeds, Reserve . $12,115 New Revenue: Bonds, Levies, Fees, State Matchulg Funds, Dedications, Mitigation Payments $20,$95 TOTAL SOURCES $33,010 • Uses of Funds Diei-inger Heights Elementary ($1,450) Five Classroom Addition Elementary School No. 3 ($19,775) Nortli Tapps Middle School ($$,025) Science Labs, Auxiliary Gym, Heaith And Fitness Classroom Nan-Capacity Projects: _ Technolo~y Upgrades & Road hnprovements $3.760 TOTAL USES $33,010 BALANCE 0 .
