A RESOLUTION pF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY pF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, URGING THE
HONORABLE DANIEL J. EVANS, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON, AND ALL
MEMBERS OF THE WASHINGTON STATE.LEGISLATURE TO COOPERATE WITH THE CITY OF
AUBURN AND THE MUNICIPALITY OF METROPOLITAN SEATTLE IN EXPLORING ALL
REASONABLE ALTERNATIVES TO HELP EASE-THE CURRENT STATE BUDGET CRUNCH
SO LONG AS THE ALTERNATIVES DO NOT IMPAIR METRO'S ABILITY TO PERFORM THE
VOTER APPROVED TRANSIT-PLAN.
WHEREAS, the City of Auburn, Washington, has been advised that negotiations
with the Governor's Office and the leadership of the House and Senate regarding
State funding for Metro Transit have reached an impasse; and
WHEREAS, the crux of said disagreement is whether the State will continue
to provide its promised share of long term funding required to perform the
Transit Plan approved by King County voters in September, 1972;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE. CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, in
a regular meeting duly assembled herewith resolves to instruct Auburn Mayor
Stanley P. Kersey, to send a true and correct-copy of this Resolution to the
Honorable Daniel J. Evans, Governor of the State of Washington, requesting that
all efforts be utilized to explore all reasonable alternatives to help ease the
current state budget crunch so long as those alternatives do not impair the.
municipality of metropolitan Seattle's ability to perform the voter approved
transit plan.
PASSED this 2nd day of April, 1973.
