A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON,
RENAMING AUBURN MUNICIPAL AIRPORT TO
"AUBURN MUNICIPAL AIRPORT - DICK SCOBEE FIELD".
WHEREAS, FRANCIS R. "DICK" SCOBEE was a long-time resident of Auburn; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of Auburn wish to recognize the selfless contribu-
tions of DICK SCOBEE to the field of aeronautics and space exploration; and
WHEREAS, those contributions include more than 6,000 hours logged as a
combat pilot and test pilot for the United States Air -Force in 45 different
aircraft, and eight years as an instructor pilot, space shuttle pilot and
space shuttle commander for NASA; and
WHEREAS, .DICK SCOBEE set unparalled example of bravery, dedication and
achievement for the citizens of Auburn and the United States of America.
NOW, THEREFORE, MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
WASHINGTON, IN A REGULAR MEETING DULY ASSEMBLED, HEREWITH RESOLVES THAT:
In memory of FRANCIS R. "DICK" SCOBEE, the Auburn Municipal Airport shall
from this day forth be renamed and known as "AUBURN MUNICIPAL AIRPORT - DICK
SCOBEE FIELD".
