A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
WASHINGTON, RATIFYING AMENDMENTS TO THE COUNTYWIDE
PLANNING POLICIES FOR KING COUNTY.
WHEREAS, the adoption by the King County council adopted the original
County Wide Planning Policies (CPPS) in July 1992; and
WHEREAS, the Growth Management Planning Council (GMPC) which
was established by interlocal agreement in 1991 to provide the collaborative
policy development process mandated by the State Growth Management Act
amendments of 1991; and
WHEREAS, the GMPC on September 23, 1998 took final action on
recommended amendments to the CPPs to submit to the Metropolitan King
County Council; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan King County Council took final action on
February 22, 1999 on the "Amendments to King County 2012 Countywide
Planning Policies"; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of Auburn approved the original Countywide
Planning Policies through Resolution 2349 in November 1992 "with specific
clarifications"; and
WHEREAS, the 1991 interlocal agreement remains in effect, requiring
ratification of the Countywide Planning Policies by 30% of the jurisdictions

representing 70% .of the population of King County, within 90 days of adoption
by the Metropolitan King County Council; and
WHEREAS, the City Council's Planning and Community Development
Committee on October 10, 1994 recommended that the City Council ratify the
"Amendments to the King County 2012 Countywide Planning Policies"; and
WHEREAS, the City Council, at its regular meeting on May 17, 1999
voted to accept the recommendations of the Planning and Community
Development Committee to ratify the "Amendments to King County 2012
Countywide Planning Policies" and to recommend continued collaborative
efforts between the Suburban Cities Association, City of Seattle and King
County to refine and improve the policies to implement the Growth
Management Act in King County.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
WASHINGTON, IN A REGULAR MEETING DULY ASSEMBLED, HEREWITH
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Auburn, Washington, hereby
ratified the "Amendments to King County 2012 Countywide Planning Policies"; a
copy of said Policies denominated as Exhibit "A" is attached hereto and made a
part hereof as though set forth in full herein, to comply with RCW 36.70A.210
and WAC 365-195-305 and to provide a refined policy framework for the
updating of the Auburn Comprehensive Plan. Exhibit "A" is comprised of

Motions 98-4, 98-5, 98-6 and 98-7 of the Growth Management Planning
Council.
SECTION 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to implement such
administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directives of
this legislation.
