HomeMy WebLinkAbout3086 Resolution No. 3086 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO DEDICATE AND NAME A NEW PARK SITE, LOCATED AT 11TM STREET NORTHWEST AND WEST VALLEY HIGHWAY, AS THE ROBERT E. GAINES PARK WHEREAS, the City Council has set a policy regulating the naming of parks, recreation facilities, and other public facilities; and WHEREAS, the City Counci.1 further believes that facilities should be named for neighborhood or geographic identification, historical figures or events, natural features, individuals who have made significant contributions to the park system or donated land for park facilities, or individuals who have contributed outstanding civic service to the City, community, or City government; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, IN A REGULAR MEETING DULY ASSEMBLED, HEREWITH RESOLVES THAT: Section 1. The Mayor of the City of Auburn is hereby authorized to name the recently completed park, located at 11 th Street Northwest and West Valley Highway, in honor of Robert E. Gaines, who served as Mayor of the City of Auburn from 1964 to 1968. In addition, to serving our community as Mayor, Robert E. Gaines also served as a member of the Auburn City Council, as the 30th District Representative for the State of Washington, and served on the King County Council. Resolution No. 3086 March 12, 1999 Page I of 2 Section 2. The park shall be officially dedicated as "Robert E. Gaines Park", and appropriate park signage with that name shall be installed.
