A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF AUBURN TO AWARD
NEIGHBORHOOD MATCHING GRANTS TO SELECTED APPLICANTS.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Auburn appropriated funds in
its 1999 General Fund Budget for the purpose of Neighborhood Matching
Grants; and
WHEREAS, the City's Department of Planning and Community
Development received several proposed grants from prospective applicants;
and
WHEREAS, these grant applications were reviewed by city staff and the
City of Auburn's Human Service Commission in accordance to the
management memorandum approved by the Mayor and City Council of Auburn;
and
WHEREAS, the Human Service Commission forwarded their
recommendation for funding to the Mayor of Auburn who, in turn, concurs with
them and submits them for the City Council's review and approval.
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN
WASHINGTON, IN A REGULAR MEETING DULY ASSEMBLED, HEREWITH
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. PURPOSE. The purpose of this Resolution is to authorize
the Mayor and City Clerk of the City of Auburn, Washington, to award
Neighborhood Matching Grants to Selected Applicants. A copy of
Neighborhood Matching Grants Selected Applicants as set forth in Exhibit "1" is
attached hereto and incorporated herein by this reference.
Section 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to implement such
administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directires of
this legislation.

For the 1999 Program Year
Neighborhood Group NEIGHBORHOOD PROJECT Amount
Boys &Girls Club Firwood Basketball Court: $ 5,000
Install a full-size, outdoor basketball court
adjacent to the Boys & Girls Club at the Firwood
Housing Community on 37th Street S.E.
Pioneer Parent Group Volunteer Mentorin~ &Tutoring Program: $ 5,000
Recruit and organize volunteers will to
participate in the "Smart Mentoring and Reading
Tutors" (SMART) Program.
Wayland Arms Garden Club Community Garden: $ 4,425
Construct a community garden featuring raised
garden beds that accessible to people of all
abilities for the residents in the southwest corner
of downtown Auburn.
Cascade MS PTSA Disaster Preparedness Program: $ 3,500
Equip the disaster prepared container at Cascade
Middle School and train the residents within the
middle school attendance areas how to respond
appropriate to potential disasters.
Open Gym for Youth Open Gym for Middle School Youth: $ 2,600
Provide middle school youth in the Olympic
Middle School attendance area an open gym that
provides supervised activities in a drug-flee and
violence-free environment.
Total: All Matching Grants for PY1999 $20,525
