A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, KING
COUNTY, WASHINGTON, ACKNOWLEDGING THE FIRST UNITED
METHODIST CHURCH OF AUBURN'S EFFORTS IN ESTABLISHING A ZONE
OF PEACE.
WHEREAS, a candidate Zone of Peace was established at First United
Methodist Church of Auburn by the King County Branch of the Zones of Peace
International Foundation on June 6, 1999, and
WHEREAS, as a condition of obtaining official status of a Zone of Peace
requires acknowledgment by an appropriate governmental authority, and
WHEREAS, a basic responsibility of government is to ensure the peace
and security of its citizens, and
WHEREAS, the City of Auburn supports any efforts to prevent violence
and mediate conflict.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
KING COUNTY WASHINGTON, DO HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City encourages any principals to prevent violence and
mediate conflict and would support the First United Methodist Church of Auburn
in its efforts to achieve these principals through its Zone of Peace.
