HomeMy WebLinkAbout3255 RESOLUTION NO. 3 2 5 5 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, KING COUNTY, WASHINGTON, ACKNOWLEDGING KING COUNTY'S EFFORTS AND ENDORSING THEIR INFLOW AND INFILTRATION CONTROL PROGRAM. WHEREAS, King County has determined that substantial amounts of .extraneous water (hereinafter "infiltration & inflow" or "l&l") enter local sewer systems which are tributary to King County's wastewater conveyance and treatment facilities; and WHEREAS, King County is willing to fund a study to gather information on local sewer systems tributary to the County's system, and believes cost savings can be realized by reducing I&l in some of these sewer systems; and WHEREAS, the City has determined that it is in its best interest to participate in this study to identify any areas of substantial I&l into the local sewer system as noted in Auburn Resolution 3125; and WHEREAS, King County is seeking letters of endorsement from all contributing sewer agencies; and WHEREAS, King County is seeking a thirty-seven million ($37,000,000) dollar grant from the federal government to increase the scope of pilot projects to assess I&l in the local sewer systems; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, IN A REGULAR MEETING DULY ASSEMBLED, HEREWITH RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: Section '1. The City encourages the assessment of inflow and infiltration into local sewer jurisdictions and supports King County's effort to identify I&l within the local sewer systems. Resolution No.3255 August 14, 2000 Page 1 Section 2. The City endorses King County's efforts to obtain a thirty- seven million ($37M) dollar grant from the federal government to increase the scope of pilot projects to assess infiltration and inflow in local sewer systems. Section 3. The Mayor is hereby authorized to implement such administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directions of this legislation.
