HomeMy WebLinkAbout3271 RESOLUTION NO.3 2 7 1 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT FOR PRINTING AND DISTRIBUTION OF THE CITY NEWSPAPER, BETWEEN THE CITY OF AUBURN AND THE AUBURN REPORTER. WHEREAS, the City of Auburn has identified the need to provide the citizens of Auburn with information in a professional and informative format; and WHEREAS the City of Auburn has identified the need to assign this work to a professional to ensure the professional quality, technical accuracy, and timely completion of the mailings; and WHEREAS the City of Auburn has negotiated fair terms for this service. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, IN A REGULAR MEETING DULY ASSEMBLED, HEREWITH RESOLVES THAT: Section 1. The Mayor of the City of Auburn is herewith authorized to execute an Agreement between the City of Auburn and The Auburn Reporter Newspaper for printing and distribution services. A copy of said Agreement is attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein by this reference. Section 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to implement such administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directives of this legislation. Reynolds, City Attorney Resolution No. 3271 October 9, 2000 Page 2 Publication of Auburn City Report Advertising agreement between the City of Auburn and the Auburn Reporter The City of Auburn agrees to purchase display advertising space in the Auburn Reporter, for the purpose of producing a community newsletter, or City Report, for the citizens of Auburn, at a minimum frequency of once each month during the period from November, 2000, through December, 2001. This contract may be renewed for an additional year upon mutual agreement of both parties. The City of Aubum will purchase at least one full page each month at a rate of $1,275, which includes printing in black plus one additional color. A second spot color is available at a cost of $75. If the City should decide to use two pages each month on a regular basis, theAuburn Reporter will designate the center two pages for the City, depending on availability, for a total cost of $2,000 for both pages, which will include printing in black plus two additional colors. The increase to two or more pages may be made at anytime during this contract. These rates will be honored for the duration of this contract, with adjustments limited only to unforeseen postal-rate or newsprint increases. Adjustments will be limited to the actual cost increase, with newsprint calculated to the actual amount used by the City Report. Charges for additional circulation that may be requested by city officials will be charged at $210 per 1,000 for printing and distribution, based on current printing and mailing costs. The City of Auburn will have full control over the editorial content and layout of the city's page. The Auburn Reporter will provide production assistance when requested by the City, including scanning of photographs. The Auburn Reporter agrees to mail a minimum of 25,000 copies of the Auburn Reporter to residents and businesses within the Auburn city limits each month. The actual carrier routes may be selected by city staff. We also agree to provide the City with up to 500 copies of the newspaper for city offices and employees. When requested, the Auburn Reporter agrees to provide the City of Auburn with postal receipts from the US Postal Service for the verification of the number of newspapers mailed each month.
