A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO ENTER
INTO A CONTRACT WITH CENTRAL PUGET SOUND REGIONAL TRANSIT
AUTHORITY (SOUND TRANSIT) TO PROCURE PARKING STALLS, RETAIL
SPACE AND EXTERIOR IMPROVEMENTS NOT TO EXCEED ONE MILLION
EIGHT HUNDRED TVVENTY-TVVO THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1,822,000).
WHEREAS, the City of Auburn, Metro and Sound Transit have
cooperatively planned, designed and funded the Auburn Multimodal Transit
Facility [Auburn Commuter Rail station and transit hub], and
WHEREAS, the City, Metro and Sound Transit, under City Resolution
3113, entered into a contractual agreement for the Planning, Design and
Construction of the Auburn Multimodal Transit Facility, and
WHEREAS, the City has already contributed significant resources to
support development of the station including $35 million in adjacent road
improvements, making City land available at no cost, securing full funding for the
station's $1.4 million pedestrian overpass and decision not to require traffic
impact mitigation fees, and
WHEREAS, the City's Comprehensive and draft Downtown Revitalization
Plans call for efforts which included improving access, parking availability and the
addition of new retail space, to help bring about the renewal of Downtown as the
center of our community, and
WHEREAS, City plans and ordinances require a first-floor retail
component and architectural exterior design for parking garages, and

WHEREAS, bids received by Sound Transit make it possible for the City
to acquire the 10,000 square feet of retail space, and 180 parking stalls that are
over and above those required by the agency for commuters and exterior
architectural improvements for a reasonable price,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
WASHINGTON, IN REGULAR MEETING DULY ASSEMBLED, HEREWITH
RESOLVES THAT:
Section 1. The Mayor of the City of Auburn is herewith authorized to
enter into a contract with Sound Transit to procure parking stalls, retail space and
exterior improvements, for a sum not to exceed One Million Eight Hundred
Twenty-Two Thousand Dollars ($1,822,000).
Section2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to implement such
administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directives of this
legislation.
