A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AUBURN, WASHINGTON, CANCELLING THE AGREEEMENT
BETWEEN THE CITY OF AUBURN AND THE AUBURN AREA
FIRE MEDIC CAMPAIGN
WHEREAS, in 1978, the City of Auburn approved by Resolution an
agreement with the Auburn Fire Medic Campaign, whereby the Auburn Fire
Medic Campaign would solicit donations for equipment that would be supportive
of and advantageous to the Auburn Area Fire Department and Emergency
Response Program; and,
WHEREAS, the Auburn area Fire Medic Campaign has organized and
operates as a tax exempt chartable organization pursuant to Title 26 USC
501(C) (3): and,
WHEREAS, when the 1978 contract was entered into between the City
and the Campaign, it was provided that the Campaign would solicit donations
and turn the proceeds of those donations over to the City for purchase of fire
and medic response equipment; and,
WHEREAS, with Campaign's tax exempt charitable organizational status
take advantage of purchasing opportunities to buy the equipment itself, rather
than leaving that task to the City; and,

WHEREAS, there are instances when the acquisition of the equipment
may be done as expeditiously, and sometimes even more so, if done directly by
the Campaign rather than through the City's purchasing process, and it is for
these reasons that the Campaign has requested that the contract be cancelled;
and,
WHEREAS, in order to accommodate the opportunity for the Campaign
to more efficiently silicate donations and purchase equipment that it would be
donating to the City of Auburn Fire Department, it would be appropriate to
terminate the contract that currently provides a requirement that donations be
turned over to the City, rather than allowing the Campaign to purchase the
equipment it wants to donate to the City directly.
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
KING COUNTY, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES that
Section 1. The contract entered into by and between the City of
Auburn and the Auburn Area Fire Medic Campaign, approved pursuant to
Resolution No. 932, dated December 4, 1978, be and the same is hereby
cancelled.
Section 2. This Resolution is intended to allow the Auburn Area Fire
Medic Campaign to solicit donations for the acquisition of equipment beneficial
to the Auburn Fire Department and to allow the Campaign to purchase that
equipment and donate the purchased equipment, rather than having to have

turning the money over to the City and having to have the City purchase that
equipment.
Section 3. The Mayor is authorized to implement such administrative
procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directives of this legislation.
Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect and be in full force upon
passage and signatures hereon.
