A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, ADOPTING GUIDANCE BY
THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF STATE HIGHWAY
AND TRANSPORTATION OFFICIALS FOR CLEAR ZONE
STANDARDS
WHEREAS, the American Association of State Highway and
Transportation Officials most recently published the Policy On Geometric
Design of Highways and Streets in 2001; and
WHEREAS, the Guide's clear zone widths relate to horizontal distances
of objects from the edge of traveled way on freeways and roads for recovery of
errant vehicles; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to adopt the clear zone design guidance for
all projects.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES as follows:
Section 1. The Mayor is hereby authorized to adopt the clear zone
design guidance as put forth by the American Association of State Highway and
Transportation Officials Policy On Geometric Design of Highways and Streets
and incorporated herein by this reference. Where guidance may conflict or
require further clarification or judgment, the decision shall be that of the City
Engineer.

upon passage and signatures hereon.
