A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AUBURN, WASHINGTON, ACCEPTING A GRANT FROM THE
STATE OF WASHINGTON OFFICE OF JUVENILE JUSTICE TO
CREATE A NEIGHBORHOOD LEARNING CENTER AT OLYMPIC
MIDDLE SCHOOL
WHEREAS, the State of Washington's Office of Juvenile Justice has
awarded a grant to the City of Auburn to create and operate a Neighborhood
Learning Center at Olympic Middle School; and
WHEREAS, the grant has an operating budget of $98,349 per year which will
be administered by the City of Auburn out of which the Office of Juvenile Justice will
reimburse the City $60,506. The remaining $37,843 will be provided as a match by
the Auburn School District (65% of the match) and the City of Auburn (35% of the
match). Approximately $24,540 of the match will be provided by the Auburn School
District in the form of supervision, educational materials and supplies. Of the
remaining $13,303, the City of Auburn's Department of Parks and Recreation will
provide $4,300 for a recreation aid and $3,000 for cultural enrichment activities.
The Department of Planning and Community Development will provide $5,000 in the
form of a grant to the ACAP Apple Parenting Program for parent education.
WHEREAS, the Mayor is hereby authorized to implement such administrative
procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directions of this legislation.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES as follows:

Section 1. The City Council hereby accepts a grant of $60,506 from the
State of Washington's Office of Juvenile Justice to create and operate a
Neighborhood Learning Center and authorizes the Mayor to execute the necessary
grant acceptance documents.
Section 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to implement such administrative
procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directions of this legislation.
Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in full force upon
passage and signatures hereon.
