RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, APPROVING
THE RECOMMENDED 2005 - 2006 PUBLIC ART
PROJECT LOCATIONS
WHEREAS, Representatives of the City Engineer's Office and the Parks
Department (Cultural Programs staff) met to discuss options with respect to
public work projects that may benefit from integration or incorporation of public
art; and
WHEREAS, after a review of several possible sights for artwork, staff
made its report to the City of Auburn Arts Commission - Public Arts Committee
and the Committee visited the sights and established its recommendation of
sights; and
WHEREAS, having considered the selection process and the sights
identified, it is appropriate for the City Council to adopt a resolution identifying
and adopting the sights for 2005 - 2006 Public Art Projects.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES as follows:
Section 1. That the sights for the 2005 -2006 Public Art Project
locations are as follows:
Proposed 2005 - Auburn Way South and F Street SE
The busy intersection will be reconfigured to include a new traffic signal.
Construction is estimated to start in April 2005 and be completed in October or
November 2005. The visible intersection is a primary entry point to the Les Gove
Park campus, which includes the Auburn Parks and Recreation Administration
Building, Auburn Senior Activity Center, White River Valley Museum, Auburn
Library, and ACAP.

Proposed 2006 - M Street grade separation at M Street, Highway 18, and
the Burlington Northern Railroad tracks.
This project will include massive concrete walls in the road underpass on M
Street. The City's Engineering Department has indicated it would like to begin
work in 2005 with an artist on a design element to be incorporated into the
concrete walls. Design is estimated to begin in 2006 and the project completed
in 2008.
Section 2. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to implement such
administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry out the intent of this
legislation.
Section 3. That this resolution shall be in full force and effect upon
passages and signatures hereon.
