HomeMy WebLinkAbout3829 RESOLUTION NO.3 8 2 9 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE A MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT FOR 2005 BETWEEN THE CITY OF AUBURN AND SENIOR SERVICES OF SEATTLE/KING COUNTY (SSS/KC) TO PROVIDE A NUTRITIONAL PROGRAM FOR LOW-INCOME ELDERLY CITIZENS IN THE AUBURN AREA WHEREAS, there is a need for a social and nutritional program for low-income elderly citizens in the Auburn area; and WHEREAS, Senior Services of Seattle/King County has been granted governmental financing to contribute to the cost of a nutritional program at the Auburn Senior Center. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES as follows: Section 1. The Mayor and City Clerk of the City of Auburn are herewith authorized to execute a Memorandum of Agreement for 2005 between the City of Auburn and Senior Services of Seattle/King County (SSS/KC) to provide a nutritional program for low-income elderly citizens of the Auburn area, which agreement shall be in substantial conformity with the Agreement, a copy of which is attached hereto, marked as Exhibit "A", and incorporated herein by this reference. Section 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to implement such administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directivE's of this legislation. Daskam, City Clerk Resolution No. 3829 February 14, 2005 Page 2 of 2 MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMEJNT Seattle/King County Nutrition Projects: Auburn This Memorandum of Agreement is between Senior Services of SeattlelKing County (Senior Services), a non-profit corporation of Seattle, and the City of Auburn. In recognition of the need to continue a social and nutritional program for low-income elderly citizens of the Auburn area, and in recognition that Senior Services of SeattlelKing County has been granted governmental financing which will be available to contribute to the cost of such activiti,~s, it is hereby agreed that Senior Services and the City of Auburn will work for the greater good ofthe, community. It is agreed that the Auburn area Nutrition Program will be held at the Auburn Senior AI~tivity Center. Likewise, it is agreed that there will be responsibilities on the part of Senior Services in operating the program there. For these reasons, Senior Services and the City of Auburn agree to the following: I. The City of Auburn agrees to provide facilities between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., five days per week, (Monday - Friday), for the operation of the Congregate Meal Prograrn. 2. Senior Services agrees to pay $150.00 per year toward the cost of the telephone line at Auburn Senior Activity Center, following the submission of a statement from the City of Auburn. 3. Senior Services will employ one staff member at the nutrition site, provide back up when necessary and will be responsible for their salaries. The Site Consultant will supervise the nutrition staff and will work cooperatively with the staff and administrators at Auburn Senior Activity Center. The City of Auburn shall be consulted regarding staff selection. 4. Senior Services will employ a Site Consultant to work with the Site Coordinator, volunteers and staff at the host site on a range of issues, including, but not limited to food safety, food storage, food waste, food budgets, nutritional standards, data collection and participant donations. 5. Senior Services agrees to develop menus that comply with Older Americans' Act funding requirements, provide all food, beverages and supplies to serve the participants at the site as deemed necessary by program requirements. The site will cooperate with data collection and suggested donation policies and procedures set by the Nutrition Program. 6. Senior Services will be responsible for all liability insurance related to the operation of the Nutrition Program, and the City of Auburn will receive a certificate of insurance. 7. Senior Services reserves the right to expand or reduce staffing levels, meal levels and/or service days dependent upon budgetary considerations with appropriate notification to the host agency where the nutrition site is located. 8. The term of this agreement shall be from January I, 2005, to December 31, 2005, and maybe continued thereafter by mutual agreement ofthe parties. This Memorandum of Agreement may be terminated with thirty (30) days written notice by either party.
