HomeMy WebLinkAbout3845 RESOLUTION NO. 3 8 4 5 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, ACCEPTING THE SIXTY PERCENT PETITION TO ANNEX CERTAIN PROPERTY LOCATED IN PIERCE COUNTY ADJACENT TO THE CITY'S SOUTHERN BOUNDARY AND SETTING A PUBLIC HEARING THEREFOR WHEREAS, the City of Auburn, Washington, has received an application (ANX04-0002) to annex approximately 271 acres of land located in Pierce County adjacent to the City's southern boundary; and WHEREAS, at a regularly scheduled Council meeting on February 17, 2004, the City Council authorized City staff to prepare the necessary annexation petition stating that said area, if annexed by the City of Auburn, will assume the pro rata portion of the existing bonded indebtedness of the City of Auburn; and WHEREAS, the City received petitions representing 84% of the assessed valuation of the property lying within the limits of the proposed annexation area; and WHEREAS, on October 22, 2004, the Pierce County Assessor-Treasurer declared that a sufficient number of petitions were received and verified to meet the statutory requirements for a petition to annex; and WHEREAS, on February 14,2005, the cities of Auburn and Bonney Lake resolved an issue involving a parcel that was located partially inside and partially outside the City of Auburn's PM so that it is now located entirely within Auburn's PM. --------------------~---- Resolution 3845 April 12, 2005 Page 1 of 3 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, IN A REGULAR MEETING DULY ASSEMBLED DOES HEREBY RESOLVE THAT: Section 1. The City of Auburn hereby accepts the Sixty-percent Petition for Annexation received in connection with the requested annexation and hereby sets a Public Hearing for May 2, 2005, at 7:30 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, at the Auburn City Council Chambers, Auburn City Hall, 25 West Main Street, Auburn, Washington, for the City Council to hear all persons wishing to speak to said annexation, and to consider its position with respect to the annexation. Section 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to implement administrative procedures necessary to carry out the directives of this legislation. Section 3.
