HomeMy WebLinkAbout3856 RESOLUTION NO.3 8 5 6 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, RELATING TO ITS INTENTION TO ANNEX CERTAIN PROPERTY LOCATED IN PIERCE COUNTY ADJACENT TO THE CITY'S SOUTHERN BOUNDARY WHEREAS, the City of Auburn, Washington, has received an application (ANX04-0002) petitioning the City to annex approximately 271 acres of land located in Pierce County adjacent to the City's southern boundary; and WHEREAS, the subject parcels are also part of an unincorporated area which the City has been working on annexing; and WHEREAS, at a regularly scheduled Council meeting on February 17, 2004, the City Council authorized City staff to prepare the necessary annexation petition stating that said area, if annexed by the City of Auburn, will assume the pro rata portion of the existing bonded indebtedness of the City of Auburn; and WHEREAS, the City received petitions representing 84% of the assessed valuation of the property lying within the limits of the proposed annexation area, according to the assessed valuation for general taxation; and WHEREAS, on May 2, 2005 the City Council held a public heaJing at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Auburn City Hall, at which time the -------------------------- Resolution 3856 April 26, 2005 Page 1 City Council recommended approval of said annexation. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, IN A REGULAR MEETING DULY ASSEMBLED, HEREWITH RESOLVES THAT: Section 1. City Staff is hereby instructed to file the Notice of Intention to Annex with the Pierce County Boundary Review Board. Section 2. The City of Auburn hereby requests the Pierce County Boundary Review Board to approve the annexation of approximately 271 acres of land located in Pierce County adjacent to the City's southern boundary, legally described in Exhibit A attached hereto. Section 3. The City Council finds that the annexation is consistent with the City of Auburn's goals and policies related to annexations as enumerated in Chapter 13 of the City's Comprehensive Plan. Section 4. The City Council further finds that the annexation is consistent with the Comprehensive Land Use Plan of the City for orderly and controlled growth, and accomplishes the purposes and objectives specified in RCW 36.93.010 based on the facts herein. Section 5.
