A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AUBURN, WASHINGTON, ENCOURAGING THE
PRESERVATION OF PROPERTY FOR USE AS A FUTURE
REGIONAL RECREATIONAL PARK ALONG THE WHITE
RIVER IN WESTERN WASHINGTON
WHEREAS, Puget Sound Energy (PSE) no longer has a need to hold and
maintain certain property (Property) in support of its White River Hydroelectric
Project; and,
WHEREAS, as a result, certain PSE Property is expected to be available
for acquisition and presents an opportunity for a regional park in a growing urban
setting; and
WHEREAS, a wildlife refuge and nature park has a range of possibilities
for the preservation and enjoyment of the environment; and
WHEREAS, citizens could enjoy a multitude of public recreational
activities including, as examples, horseback riding, camping, hiking, cycling and
fishing; and,
WHEREAS, a regional park would provide a much needed refuge for
wildlife in the surrounding area; and
WHEREAS, such a recreational area would have economic benefits for
surrounding jurisdictions and educational benefits to local residents and tourists;
and,
WHEREAS, Auburn citizens are known for their appreciation of the
outdoors.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCI LOF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Purpose. The City Council of the City of Auburn hereby
encourages the preservation of the above described property for use as a future
regional park along the White River in western Washington.
Section 2. Implementation. The Mayor is hereby authorized to direct
staff to initiate activities as may be appropriate to provide assistance to support
this effort. The Mayor will also keep the City Council informed as to activities
related in support of this effort.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall be in full force and
effect upon passage and signatures hereon.
