HomeMy WebLinkAbout4130 RESOLUTION NO.4 1 3 0 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, DESIGNATING THE SEATTLE TIMES AS THE CITY'S OFFICIAL NEWSPAPER, PENDING A MORE FORMAL SELECTION PROCESS WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 35A.21.230 of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW), each code city shall designate an official newspaper by resolution which newspaper shall be a newspaper of general circulation in the City and shall have the qualifications prescribed by Chapter 65.16 RCW; and WHEREAS, the City of Auburn has designated the King County Journal as its official newspaper; and WHEREAS, the King County Journal has recently been purchased and its future publications are changing and, in fact, the newspaper is scheduled to terminate its daily publications on January 21,2007; and WHEREAS, it is therefore, appropriate for the City of Auburn to designate on an interim basis, another newspaper to serve as its official newspaper and to commence a request for proposal process for selection of its official newspaper. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, HEREBY RESOLVES as follows: Section 1. That in light of the cessation of regular publications by the King County Journal, the Mayor is authorized to designate The Seattle Times as the official newspaper for the City of Auburn effective January 22, 2007, pending a more formal selection process. That the Mayor is authorized to implement such administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directives of this leg islation. Section 3.
