HomeMy WebLinkAbout4223RESOLUTION N0.4 2 2 3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, EXPRESSING ITS SUPPORT FOR THE REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION INVESTMENT DISTRICT (RTID) "ROADS AND TRANSIT PLAN" NOVEMBER 2007 BALLOT PROPOSITION WHEREAS, the Regional Transportation Investment District (RTID) Planning Commission recommended a "Blueprint for Progress" for major road and bridge improvements in the most congested corridors in Snohomish, King and Piece Counties; and WHEREAS, the Pierce County Council, Snohomish County Council and King County Council have all voted to place the RTID "Roads and Transit Plan" on the November 2007 ballot and the County Executives for all three counties have signed the ordinance to place the Roads and Transit Plan on the November 6, 2007, ballot; and WHEREAS, RCW 42.17.130 allows the City to take a position on a ballot proposal if action is taken at an open meeting, the notice of which included the title and number of the ballot proposition and if members of the public and members of the legislative bodies involved are afforded approximately equal opportunity for the expression of an opposing view; and WHEREAS, the City has provided the required notice and on August 20, 2007 at an open public meeting, conducted a public hearing to hear from both proponents and opponents of the Roads and Trans Plan ballot propositions; and Resolution No. 4223 August 2, 2007 Page 1 of 2 WHEREAS, the Roads and Transit Plan, if approved by the voters, will provide millions of dollars of road improvements in and around the City of Auburn. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, HEREBY RESOLVES as follows: Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Auburn hereby expresses its support for the Roads and Transit Plan that will appear on the November 6, 2007 ballot and encourages voters to cast their ballot in support of the proposal. Section 2. That the Mayor is authorized to implement such administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directives of this legislation. Section 3.
