HomeMy WebLinkAbout4237RESOLUTION NO. 4237 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT A GRANT FROM THE WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR AMID-BLOCK CROSSING ON AUBURN WAY NORTH WHEREAS, the City desires to increase pedestrian safety; and WHEREAS, amid-block crossing with a pedestrian activated signal, median refuge, and other safety features will provide a safer environment for pedestrians crossing Auburn Way North; and WHEREAS, the City was granted a Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety grant through the Washington State Department of Transportation in the amount of $325,00 to finance the design and construction of a mid-block crossing on Auburn Way North in the vicinity of 28t" Street; and WHEREAS, the City desires to relocate the future crossing from Auburn Way North in the vicinity of 28t" Street to Auburn Way North in the vicinity of 42"d Street; and WHEREAS, the City has been working with the Washington State Department of Transportation to move the location of the crosswalk to the vicinity of 42"d Street due to a change in the nearby pedestrian generating land uses; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City to use grant monies to finance safety improvements. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES as follows: Resolution No. 4237 September 4, 2007 Page 1 Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to accept the Washington State Department of Transportation grant for $325,00 to design and construct amid-block crossing on Auburn Way North in the vicinity of either 28th Street or 42"d Street. Section 2. That the Mayor is authorized to implement such other administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directives of this legislation. Section 3.
