Background Summary:
The Legal Department has converted its primary source of legal reference materials from hard -bound
books to electronic format. Due to the space limitations in the Legal Department and the reliance on
electronic research tools, it is in the best interest of the City to surplus and dispose of the hard -bound law
books.
Resolution No. 3767 authorizes the surplus and the disposal of the books through sale or donation to
another governmental agency or non-profit entity.

A RESOLUTION DF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AUBURN, WASHINGTON DECLARING CERTAIN VOLUMES
IN THE LEGAL DEPARTMENT'S LAW LfBRARYAS SURPLUS
AND AUTHORIZING ITS DISPOSAL
WHEREAS, the City of Auburn Legal Department has converted its primary source
of legal materials from hard -bound books to electronic format; and
v1 HE EA$, this change not only gives the Department greater access to legal
research materials, it does so with significantly increased speed; and
WHEREAS, in light of the limitations of space in the Department, and the reliance
on electronic research tools, the disposition of the hard—bound books would alleviate to
degree the space limitations; and
WHEREAS, It would be appropriate to surplus the hard -bound law books and
dispose of them by auction or other sale mechanism, provided that if no willing buyers can
be located, it wouId be appropriate to dispose of thea through gift to another governmental
agency of non-profit entity.
NOW, THEREFORE, F E, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
WASHINGTON N HEI E RESOLVES as follows:

Mayor is authorized to dispose of and convey such property through appropriate sale or
donation to another governmental agency or non-profit entity.
